Job Description:Trading Manager

Reports to:Approved Person of Age UK East Riding/Chief Officer

Hours:36.25 hours per week

Salary:£11.00 per hourwith review after completion of training and satisfactory 6 month probation period

Location:Based at the Beverley Office, also required to work from Hull Office from time to time.

Main objectives of role:

  1. Through developing and implementing local marketing strategies, and leading the work of the insurance trading team, to achieve significant improvement in the local market share for the Charity’s sales of nationally selected and approved insurance, utilities and related products.
  • To provide the Regulated Supervisory role for the insurance trading team, complying with the Age UK Enterprises Training & Competence scheme.
  • To develop strong links with other partners & stakeholders in the East Riding area, in order to maximise product and trading opportunities.
  1. To lead the Charity’s local marketing of a growing range of nationally selected and approved “affinity products” which enable older people to live independently. Currently these include stair-lifts, bathing equipment, chairs, beds, scooters, and hearings aids. The range is planned to grow.
  • To achieve this by ensuring and maintaining an up-to-date understanding and marketing of the product range by the Charity’s staff, volunteers, Trustees, and Member groups through liaison with suppliers, briefings, papers, presentations etc.

The post-holder will have experience of sales and marketing management across a range of product areas/types and a demonstrable record of leading a team to deliver on new business / income generation targets.

Main Tasks of the Job

  • to proactively seek new business development opportunities
  • to sell a range of insurance products to our customers
  • to manage an insurance team in a compliant manner
  • to adhere to Age UK Enterprises Training & Competence scheme
  • to provide accurate and timely statistics and reports with regard to all sales and marketing activities
  • to be responsible for both self and staff development
  • to maintain a clean and tidy working environment, work to ensure Health and Safety standards are met and comply with any office systems and procedures
  • to attend external and internal meetings and training sessions as and when required
  • any other duties as may be required and are consistent with the responsibilities of the post.

Business Development:

  • to develop appropriate sales & marketing plans in consultation with the Approved Person and Age UK Enterprises staff and report on progress to the trustee board
  • to work with all relevant business areas of the charity to promote products and services
  • to organise and attend promotions, events and marketing activities both at Age UK Hull & East Riding premises and at other locations in the East Riding area
  • to ensure that all promotional material is adequately stocked
  • to work within set budgets.

Customer Services:

  • to work within relevant nationally recognised Quality Standards and guidelines
  • to oversee the customer payments, cash reconciliation and banking.

For Age UK Enterprises Limited products, to work competently and compliantly within the Limits of Authority:

  • to abide by the Codes of Conduct, Rules and Guidelines as issued by Age UK Enterprises
  • to accurately complete all administration and documentation in accordance with procedures and service standards
  • to organise induction for new staff and volunteers, train and coach new staff and volunteers and existing staff and monitor their performance
  • to analyse and interpret management information
  • to ensure that Age UK Enterprise complaints procedure is adhered to.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential / Desirable
Education and training /
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks manage own workload and delegate tasks appropriately
  • IT skills using the full range of MS office packages

  • Knowledge and experience of insurance sales
  • Be trained to FCA Supervisor Level
  • An understanding of Social Enterprise

Experience /
  • Experience and success within a sales based role on a one to one basis
/
  • Experience within a FCA/Compliance based role would be an advantage
  • Experience of working on marketing campaigns

NB. This role will be subject to six month probation period,DBS checks and an additional application process in compliance with FCA & Age UK Enterprises procedures.
