Welcome to Bletchley and District Swim Club

Established in 1958 we are one of the oldest swimming clubs in the Milton Keynes area. Originally formed when an open air swimming pool was built to commemorate the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth ll in Bletchley town. The pool was known as 'Queen's Pool' and was opened on 7th June 1958. This remained our home until its closure in 1974, when we moved to Leon School & Sports College Pool where we still train today. In January 2010 with the opening of the new Bletchley Leisure Centre the Club gained some water time at the new pool and this is presently offered to our competitive swimmers. This new pool is situated very close to where the original Queen’s pool had stood.

All our committee members, teachers give their time on a voluntary basis. All teachers and coaches are ASA qualified and these qualifications are updated on a regular basis through CPD, as are those of our lifesavers and first aid officers.

All the coaches/teachers are CRB Checked and have attended Child Protection seminars. We take the care of our young people very seriously and provide a safe environment as set out in the ASA Child Protection Guidelines. We require anyone wishing to take photos or video recordings of the swimmers to gain permission from the Club Secretary after providing proper proof of identity.

Bletchley Swimming Club offers an Academy section to help progress from learn to swim programmes to competitive swimming. The teachers follow the National Teaching plan for Teaching Swimming as set out by the ASA.

The teachers undertake regular assessments of their swimmers and when they have reached the required standard, usually towards the end of the school terms, then a badge slip is passed to the swimmer. The teachers use these assessments to progress swimmers to the next group.

We also provide an adult swim class, we cover from adults looking for fitness in a structured format to competent/competitive swimmers. Teachers are available to assist where required and offer guidance to progress and improve.
