Mike Horgan, Marathon
MentorIntroduction
Mikecurrently holds the position of UK Asset Manager for Marathon based in the Aberdeen office.
After gaining his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Technology at CorkRegionalTechnicalCollege, Mike joined Marathonin 1990 and has worked with the companyfor the last 17 years.
Mike is a member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and represents Marathon on the Operator Council of Oil and Gas UK.
Technical Background
During his time at Marathon Mike has worked on a number of projects and has progressed through three main areas;Projects,Operations, and currentlyAsset Management.
Mike’s career with Marathon started in engineering support for all three Brae platforms. He was part of the Hook-Up and Commissioning Team for the East Brae platform. Mike worked as Commissioning Team Leader for the West Brae and Birch projects.He then went on to work on the Brae Alpha as Production Superintendent and Offshore Installation Manager. Mike then became the Operations Manager for the Brae complex before moving on to ProjectsDirector for Deepwater Projects in the Gulf of Mexico, based in Houston.
Key Objectives
1)Better understanding of the challenges for a Norwegian SME to enter the UK market.
2)Gain a better understanding of the barriers which SMEs have of doing business with Marathon and use these to identify any change we may make internally.
3)Understand the Clamp-On business and challenges and support them in delivering their objectives.
