Biographies

President

Alma Aspiras is a Registered Nurse, BSN, MSN. Her clinical experience includes Medical Surgical, Telemetry, and Rehab, Nursing Homes, travel nursing and RN fee for service for North Shore Home Care. Alma has been a Case Manager at North Shore Hospital Manhasset since 2007, and has worked as Home Care Coordinator at Cold Spring Hills Long Term Lombardi Program. She also worked as adjunct faculty at Farmingdale University School of Nursing and has just accepted a leadership position as Supervisor of CM at Forest Hills NSLIJ.

Alma has been an active member of CMSA LI and has served as a Board Member for one year, and a Treasurer from April 2013 to present. She is currently the Public Policy Chapter Liaison, a member of Website Committee and Membership Committee. She organized the CCM Prep Course for the Chapter and organized Community Outreach Programs. She is running for the position of President for CMSALI. She believes CMSA LI fosters professional growth and development through a friendly environment and would like to continue supporting the organization’s objectives through serving as President-

Treasurer

Shelly Samuels is a Business Development Manager for Advanced Care, Inc., a home infusion company, for over ten years. She covers the territories of Long Island, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and Staten Island and works closely and collaboratively with case managers in various sectors, including hospitals, home care, and managed care. Shelly has been actively involved with CMSA LI. She has served actively on CMSA LI’s Board as Director.

She believes CMSA LI is a great organization and has enjoyed being an integral part of it. She appreciates what case managers do every day for their patients. Shelly would like to continue serving on the Board and run for the Treasurer position.

Directors

Dellanor DiLorenzo is a RN Care Manager Supervisor at St. Charles Hospital. She was part of the start up team for the CM Department and has been involved with the evolution of the CM role in health management. She is CCM certified, CPUR certified and a member of CMSA LI for 10+ years.

She would like to be part of furthering the CM profession by advancing the knowledge and resources available to our members. She also strongly feel recruitment of new members is vital, and would like to spearhead efforts to increase our ranks.

Julia Jenne is with Utopia Home Care, a licensed home care agency on Long Island. She is the Community Liaison in the Business Development Department, responsible for Nassau and Suffolk counties. She is also certified as a Senior Advisor. Julia works with patients and their families as well as with health care professionals in hospitals and rehab facilities. She is the Co Chair of the Sun Suffolk Speakers Bureau, has served as a committee member for the UCP organization and is a founding member of the Long Island Family Caregiver Coalition (LIFCC).

She has been a CMSA member in good standing and is seeking to serve as a Director of CMSA LI Board of Directors.

Karen Zinna is a Registered Nurse and Certified Case Manager with over 25 years experience in Quality and Case Management. Her career spans a variety of health care settings including Care Management, Article 28 Ambulatory Care Clinics, Workman’s Compensation, Managed Care, Hospitals and Primary Care offices. She has an in-depth knowledge of health care operations at all levels with proficiency in the development and training of case management programs. She was the former Director of Care Coordination and CM at Advantage Care Physicians and is currently a Healthcare Consultant with a private firm that specializes in assisting physician practices to obtain the status of the Patient Centered Medical Home.

Karen has been a member of CMSA for over 10 years and has been a recent presenter. She would like to promote the case management credential in all workplace settings where patient care and the standards set by CMSA can make a difference in the outcomes of the patients we serve. Karen is seeking to serve as a Director of CMSA LI’s Board.
