Participation: / Boys and Girls who are a minimum of 8 years old up to and including
15 years old on the day.
Competitors must be members of the British Judo Association, British Judo Council, or Amateur Judo Association.
Competitors must be Novice to 6th Mon (Yellow belt) maximum.
Mode: / Players will be weighed in on the day (at the venue) and will be placed into pools of three, four or five with children as close as possible to their own age/weight/grade and experience.
The organisers will, where possible, separate players from the same school and club.
Each competitor will receive a participation certificate.
Each pool winner will receive a medal.
Medals/Certificates will be presented after each group finishes on the mat.
Medals/Certificates will be presented in reverse order. One medal to be presented to overall winner.
Contest duration will be two minutes.
Please note that one referee will referee these contests only.
Junior Referees maybe deployed.
There will be no golden score; the referee will give Hantei(Decision) or Hiki-wake(Draw)
There are some special technical judo rules;
Techniques such as the following will not score: -
Self-sacrifice throws, Tomoe-Nage, Sumi-Gaeshi, Drop Seoi-Nage throws. Pickups/leg grabs i.e. Te-Guruma/Morote-Gari/Leg Grabs.
Players will not be penalised for instinctively executing these throws, the referee will advise the child not to repeat the throw, however if a player consistently uses these techniques the referee may use their discretion as to whether the player should be penalised.
No tactical or technical coaching is permitted only general encouragement.
Coaches are encouraged to help prepare their players to be ready to compete for example helping with belts etc.
Crude drag down counters - Skilful avoidances permitted.
Kubi-nage, flying Kesa-gatame type techniques, Strangles and Arm locks are not allowed.
A referee may call Ippon if you are in a hold down and they are satisfied it is best to do so.
Weigh – in: / 1000hrs to 1030 hrs

Policy: / The British Judo Association weigh-in policy will be operated.
Boys must wear Judogi trousers when weighing-in.
Tolerance to 0.5kg (500 grams) i.e. 34.5 etc
Girls must wear Judogi trousers and a regulation white T-Shirt when
weighing-in.
Tolerance of 0.6kg (600 grams) i.e. 36.6 etc.

Preamble: / There will be a presentation on the rules of the competition – 1045hrs.
