Bexley Information, Advice and Support Service (IASS)

The IASS service for Bexley started on 9th November 2015. It consists of initial advice and contact with the IASS services based in Kent Local Authority Area and an independent consultant: providing help and information for parents, carers and young people to understand the education system.

All initial contact will be via the above contacts. These will be picked up by Kent IASS and it is envisaged that the majority of enquiries will be handled by this service. They will work closely with the independent consultant and pass any more complex cases to her.

  • Help parents and young people prepare paperwork
  • Assist parents, children and young people to plan how to communicate their views or concerns in meetings or on paper
  • Allow parents, children and young people access to face to face support
  • Offer advice regarding mediation and SEN Tribunal appeals.

Level Three / Face to Face /
  • Offer face to face advice and support when this is required more urgently.
  • Assist parents, children and young people to plan how to communicate their views or concerns in meetings or on paper where this is require more urgently.
  • Allow parents, children and young people to access more urgent face to face support
  • Support parents, children and young people in meetings with schools, colleges and other agencies
  • Support parents and young people at mediation
