Position: TBAPICT TechnicianGrade SO1 sp 29-31

Responsible to:

IT Manager for the IT systems of the TBAP Multi Academy Trust ensuring that all systems are effective and efficient. This includes Local, Virtual and Wide Area networks.

To manage the ICT network and the Managed Learning Environment (MLE) across TBAP Trust sites associated business locations.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  1. To provide assistance, advice and support regarding the management of the ICT technical team and to maintain the systems infrastructure of the TBAP Trust through effective network management, software and hardware support, data and hardware security.
  1. To liaise with external suppliers, where appropriate, and provide advice on the cost efficientprocurement of new hardware and software to the TBAP Trust.
  1. To configure new workstations and peripherals and to maintain the security of network domains.
  1. To plan, implement and maintain a secure and robust workstation model for deployment at the TBAP Hub and in off-site locations.
  1. To assist in the development, reporting, analysisand maintenance of the TBAP Trust’sManagement Information System (MIS), it’s websites, it’s intranet and it’s MLE.
  1. To devise and maintain systems that manage user profiles, files and print services, e-mail and the monitoring of Internet use.
  1. To report on the use of digital assets across the MLE to enable monitoring of online resources.
  1. To keep up to date on new and developing technologies and advise ontheir suitability for use by the TBAP Trust.
  1. To maintain a system for local and virtual network users to report ICT problems and ensure prompt resolution.
  1. To act as point of contact for TBAP users, technical support partners and other external agencies, delivering advice and systems training as necessary.
  1. To maintain a safe working environment for all users by managing routine safety checks on equipment.
  1. To assist in ensuring the health and safety of all TBAP Trust users.
  1. To promote and actively implement the TBAP Trust’s equal opportunities policy in relation to the duties of the post.
  1. To discharge other duties as required by the TBAP Trust within the scope and status of the post.

  1. Be able to travel across sites which are part of TBAP Trust
  1. You will be required to have a valid Enhanced DBS disclosure that will be re-checkedevery 3 years as per the TBAP Trust Policy

SELECTION CRITERIA

  1. Should have at least 2 years’ experience in a 1st/2nd line IT Support role
  1. Microsoft desktop operating systems, applications as well as Apple Mac Desktop,Server knowledge and experience.
  1. Extensive knowledge of the computer environment and the ability to identify, troubleshoot and resolve problems or issues to the satisfaction of the customer or end user.
  1. Mobile devices experience including iPhone/Android/iPad
  1. Experience and up to date knowledge of server systems management including Storage Area Networks (SAN), Local & Wide area networks (LAN & WAN), Virtual LAN and network virtualisation, Exchange, SQL, Windows (including active directory) and Apple OS X solutions.
  1. Knowledge and understanding of networking switches, routers, hubs, servers, cables, racks, firewalls, Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) communication and wireless network management (e.g. Aerohive or similar systems).
  1. Knowledge and understanding of schools based network management solutions(e.g. Impero or similar)in an education environment.
  1. Experience of working in an environment that serves young people.
  1. Knowledge and understanding of a broad range of web, data handling and presentation applications.
  1. Experience of working collaboratively with teachers & other professionals whilst demonstrating the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.
  1. An understanding of child protection issues.
  1. Ability to use an analytical approach to diagnosing and solving technical problems.
  1. Ability to work under pressure, prioritising work to meet deadlines, whilst maintaining a professional service to the School and users including parent/ carers.
  1. Ability to manage people effectively.
  1. Ability to demonstrate an understanding of Equal Opportunities in an Alternative Provision (AP)setting

ADDITONAL REQUIREMENTS

Desirable qualifications/requirements:

  • MCITP: Enterprise Desktop Administrator 7/8 or MCITP: Windows 7 or Windows 8, Enterprise Desktop Support Technician
  • Citrix CCA
  • Apple MAC (Mac OS X Certifications)
  • HP Networking exposure
  • ITIL Foundation V3 or ITIL based methodologies
