Post title: Disability Sports & Inclusion Officer

Accountable to: Operations Director

Pay and Benefits: Salary offered will be commensurate with relevant experience and the level of responsibility undertaken in the post. Benefits include membership of the Group Pension Scheme (subject to certain eligibility criteria), up to 25 days paid annual leave and an Occupational Sickness Scheme.

Purpose: The role will embed a culture of inclusivity across all of the Foundation’s strategies ensuring that young peoplewith disabilities have access to our programmes & physical activities, inspiring them to become active, stay engaged, develop skills, build confidence and have greater access to employability.

Responsibilities:

- In consultation with Manchester United FC’s Equality & Inclusion Officer and recognised organisations from across the disability, inclusion, health, education and community & voluntary sectors lead the development and delivery of pan-disability & disability specific sport & physical activity for Foundation participants aged 5-18yrs.

- Review, create and update relevant policies and procedures which support all Foundation activities, with a specific focus on pan-disability & disability specific sport & physical activity

- Integrate the current work and objectives of the Foundation’s disability activities with those of the club and their recognised key partners, in doing so identify and address barriers to inclusion.

- Deliver & coordinate a calendar of inclusive tournaments and events in order to increase the participation opportunities for current and new participants.

- Form effective partnerships with internal departments and external agencies in order to facilitate opportunities for colleagues and programme participants.

- Keep up to date with Greater Manchester and national legislation, policy and statistics regarding disability sports and physical activity provision, employment apprenticeships, skills and further/higher education opportunities.

- Work with the Communications department to raise the profile of the Foundation’s disability objectives and provision.

- Lead and advise on the awareness and up-skilling of Foundation staff in the areas of disability sport and physical activity provision. Design and deliver training to support staffwhere needed.

- Be responsible for collecting data, information, evidence of good practice, formulating case studies and maintaining registers for the purposes of monitoring and evaluation, in line with Company policy and data protection guidelines.

- Undertake risk assessments to ensure a safe & healthy working environment at all times in accordance with Manchester United Foundation policies.

- Attend seminars, networking events and exhibitions relevant to the role, proactivelyutilising learnings to influence current and future Foundation activity.

- Uphold and promote the Foundation’s Safeguarding policy, working in conjunction with the MUFC safeguarding officers and team.

- Undertake personal development as and when required by Manchester United Foundation and the club.

- Any other reasonable duty as may be assigned that is consistent with the purpose of the role and its level of responsibility.

Experience & Skills:

- Demonstrable experience of working within an equality and inclusion focused role based within a football club or similar sports organisation.

- Proven ability to engage with a range of stakeholders and external partners in order to facilitate and promote disability sport and physical activity provision.

- Demonstrable understanding of disability sport, legislation related to this area and potential barriers to inclusion that may be encountered.

- Excellent organisational and communication skills (written, verbal & listening).

- Experience of scoping, designing, delivering and evaluating a range of sports and physical activity opportunities.

- Experience creating, reviewing and updating relevant policies and procedures.

- Experience in designing and delivering training both on a 1:1 and group basis.

- A Degree or HND in a related and relevant subject, or equivalent professional experience.

- Minimum FA Level 2 in Coaching Football & relevant support qualifications.

- An innovative approach to work, with an ability to adapt to change in order to convert difficulties into successes.

- Ability to work effectively as an individual and as a team member.

Hours of Work
The employee is required to work 35 hours per week. Hours of work should be planned in accordance with the demands of the business.
