Role Call:

Andy, Skip, Michelle, Chris, Erika

Website:

·  Andy pointed out that a few things need to be changed on website and we also need to add a contact email. Andy will send Erika and Laura updates and changes that are needed on the website. Erika will work with Lara to set up a SWCS NCC organization email/gmail account that will be sent to a personal email account.

Meetings:

·  Michelle confirmed that the AWRA abstract has been submitted for November meeting in Tysons Corner VA.

·  Annual SWCS meeting: 4 or 5 people from the NCC will be attending. Andy plans to set up a meeting or short gathering. Only one person can represent and vote at the town council meeting, so Andy will represent the NCC.

·  Resolution proposals for town hall meeting at annual SWCS meeting: Proposals are due early June. WOUS proposed rule was suggested by Doug in an email.

·  Skip mentioned the topic of riparian buffers as a tool for water quality. He suggested that we might want to think about this practice as a group- where are the gaps in delivering these practices, are we putting too much emphasis on them, etc.

·  Other topics? Andy listened in to an interesting U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works hearing on the Conowingo Dam.

Tour and Social Events:

·  Our spring activities (Conowingo Dam) will be pushed back to the fall. Michelle suggested a tour of the USDA green roof, the people’s garden and honeybee colony and hives. We all agreed this would be a good tour for the group. Michelle will work with colleague/friend to set up a tour. We agreed on potential dates of July 1 or July 2 during lunch. Chris will reach out to his colleague and help coordinate the tour. We brainstormed ideas for future tours that could include the rain garden/stormwater site in front of Department of Commerce and EPA.

Other items:

·  Michelle asked if we could work with Larry to get an analysis of the past 5-10 years of the NCC check and savings account. This should help give us a sense of what we’re spending our money on and discuss as a group what is the proper use of funds and what are our opportunities. Andy will check in with Larry and we can report on this during our June call.

·  Andy will ask Laura and Chris to head the call next month. Agenda items for this call will include the analysis of funding and the logistics for the July tour.
