The HASS Core Curriculum:

  • 2 Social Sciences courses
  • 2 Humanities courses
  • 2 HASS Elective courses
  • Depth requirement—a second course should be elected in the same department at the 2000 level or above.
  • Communication Intensive—one course must be designated as Comm Intensive. (A second Comm Intensive course is required in the major field.)
  • No more than three courses can be at the 1000 level.
  • One course must be at the 4000 level.

The Math/Science Core Curriculum:

  • 2 Math courses (MATH or MATP)
  • 2 Science courses
  • 2 Math/Science Elective course

Pass/No Credit:

  • A student may take up to four courses Pass/No credit
  • Courses that may be taken Pass/No Credit are Free Electives, two courses in the science core unless the course is a named requirement of a student’s curriculum, two courses in the HASS Core that are not part of the depth sequence or used to meet the communication intensive requirement.
  • Pass/No Credit cannot be used for courses for named requirements of a student’s curriculum, required professional/technical/multidisciplinary/science elective, or similarly designated subsets of courses (except where explicitly stated otherwise) to be applied toward the student’s program curriculum, courses used toward the minor, and courses at the 6000-level.

Dual Major

A dual majordegree candidate must have at least 124 credits to graduate which is to include at least 30 credits in the secondary major. The 30 credits toward the second major may be double counted to satisfy the free electives requirement and the HASS Core requirements regardless of which major is named as Major 1. A dual degree candidate receives 1 diploma citing 2 majors.

Double Major

A double majordegree candidate must complete the second major requirements in full with no double counting (at minimum 30 additional credits). The double major degree candidate receives 2 diplomas: one awarded for each major.
