Subject: Southern Maryland 4-H Spring Rabbit Show

The 2017 Southern Maryland Regional 4-H Rabbit show will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at the Charles County Fairgrounds. Attached are the registration form, rules and tentative schedule for the Rabbit show. Please review this material carefully. Pre-Registration information is due into the Charles County 4-H Office by Tuesday, May 30, 2017

This is a great way to learn more about showing and exhibiting your rabbit.

Registration for youth participants is $5.00, Make checks payable to: The Southern Maryland 4-H Livestock Committee, and include with your registration and permission slip.

Rules & Regulations

Southern Maryland 4-H Rabbit Show

Saturday, June 3, 2017

1.  Entries need to be in the Rabbit Building for check in at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

2.  Exhibitors will be limited to four entries plus one commercial meat pen entry and a Breed Display entry.

3.  Mixed breed rabbits are welcome

4.  Complete a Self-Certification of Rabbit Health form. Any diseased rabbits or those in poor condition will be sent home.

5.  No rabbits under three months of age can be shown, except in market class

6.  No rabbits under three months of age will be allowed on the grounds.

7.  All rabbits must be registered with the appropriate registration from by May 30, 2017 at the Charles County Extension Office. No entry substitutions will be made after that deadline or the day of the show, scratches only.

8.  No smoking will be permitted in the Fair Buildings. No alcohol will be permitted on the fairgrounds. Participants are expected to follow the 4-H Behavioral expectations and Maryland 4-H Code of Animal Science Ethics.

9.  The show committee has the right to dismiss, from the Rabbit Show Area, anyone not following the rules of the show.

10.  Parents are requested to stay with their children during the day’s activities. Adult chaperones are needed to assist the show. (Please make note on your child’s entry form if you can help.)

11.  All 4-Hers will assist in cleaning the rabbit building and grounds at the end of the show.

12.  All 4-Hers will dress in a neat, clean manner. White shirts with collars (short or long sleeves) will be required to be worn for Showmanship. No Hats!

13.  Showmanship: any healthy rabbit may be shown; ownership not required.

14.  Bring your rabbit(s) to the fairgrounds in secure carries. Carriers must have leak proof trays. We will not be using any fair owned cages.

15.  Bring water bottle and water for your rabbits (no crocks or bowls please)

16.  No Dogs will be allowed in the show barns!

9:45 – 10:45 Workshop – Rabbit Showmanship

10:45 – 11:30 Rabbit Showmanship and Rabbit Show

11:30 – Noon Clean – up

Limit 4 Rabbits per 4-H Member Plus

One Meat Pen

(Under 69 days of age, same variety, commercial breeds, 3 -5lb weight limit)

And One Breed Display (3 to 4 Rabbits same breed)

Must have Completed Self Certification at Rabbit Show that you fill out before bringing your rabbits to the show

However, if I cannot be reached, all decisions concerning my child will be made by the University of Maryland Extension Personnel.
