Liver Flush and Cleansing Diet

Breakfast Cocktail: 3 tablespoons olive oil (extra virgin, cold pressed)

1-2 cloves fresh garlic

Juice of one lemon

Juice of one orange (optional)

Mix the ingredients for the breakfast cocktail in a blender and drink for breakfast. (If you do not have a blender, use a garlic press and stir the mixture, or shake the ingredients in a closed jar. In this case it is best to chew the garlic bits before swallowing.)

Herb Tea:

30-60 minutes after drinking the cocktail, follow with 2 cups of warm herb tea. Choose from peppermint, comfrey leaf, fenugreek see, roasted dandelion root, or ginger root. Teas may be taken alone or in combinations. Do not sweeten the teas.

Brunch:

Have a fruit meal early in the day. The fruit should be raw and fresh. Choose from grapefruit, oranges, apples, pears, papayas, melons, or any other fruit in season. Eat the fruits alone or combine with similar fruits. For example, do not combine acid fruits with sweet fruits, and eat melons alone. Be sure to rinse your produce thoroughly, and obtain organically grown fruit whenever possible. Do not add dressings or sweeteners.

Lunch/Dinner/Supper:

Eat fresh vegetables and sprouts, raw or cooked. For example, have a salad for one meal with loose-leaf lettuce, sprouts, chopped spinach, green onions, grated carrots, celery, other vegetables. If desired, use a home-made oil-and-vinegar or oil-and-lemon dressing with herbs. Another meal might be steamed vegetables, mixing several vegetables together.

Vegetable soups are also good. A small amount of cold-pressed oil or butter (not margarine) over the vegetables is fine. Be sure to include a variety of vegetables such as broccoli, carrots, beets, asparagus, spinach, cauliflower, green beans, corn, etc.

Avoid:

All meats, seafood’s, eggs, dairy foods (milk, cheese, etc.), bread, flour products, sugar, honey, artificial sweeteners, peanuts, nuts, nut butters, cooked grains, and fried foods.

Occasionally:

Once or twice a week you may have some unsweetened non-fat yogurt with a fruit salad, or a cooked grain with a vegetable meal. On rare occasions one may eat potatoes, bananas, and a large glass of fresh fruit juice.

Eat as much as you like of the recommended foods and be sure to drink plenty of water. It is advisable to get bottled or filtered water if you live in the city. Drink half a gallon of water or more per day away from meals. Continue this liver flush and cleansing diet for the period of time recommended by your physician.
