CALL FOR PAPERS

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) is pleased to announce itscallforpapersfor the 2017 Summer Conference with the theme Philippine Libraries in Transformation, to be held on April 24-26, 2017 in Camarines Sur Thecallis open to librarians/information professionals, researchers, faculty and graduate students of LIS.

The conference aims to support the Libraries Transform initiative of the American Library Association which is designed to increase public awareness of the value, impact and services provided by libraries and library professionals. The campaign will ensure there is one clear, energetic voice for the library profession.It also showcases the transformative nature of today’s libraries and elevates the critical role libraries play in the digital age (http://www.ilovelibraries.org/librariestransform/about)

Full papers must besubmitted n or beforeFebruary 24, 2017indicatingPAARLConference2017in the subject line.

Papers to be submitted should be in line with the theme and should reflect transformation in terms of the following:

-  Physical transformation (e.g. learning commons, fast casuals, makerspaces, unplugged, etc.)

-  Transformation in library services and programs (e.g. research data services, data policies and data management plans, digital asset management, digital preservation, tools for digital scholarship, new technologies, outreach and engagement, gamification, fandom, collective impact projects, internet of things, etc.)

-  Transformed library personnel (e.g. professional development, emerging staff positions, embedded librarian, knowledge mediator, modern librarianship, librarian competencies, etc.)

Submitted papers will go through a blind peer review processwhich means that the author’s identity is concealed from the reviewers.To facilitate this, authors are requested to submit the following in two separate files:

-  The Title Page containing the Authors details (authors' names and affiliations, complete address, telephone number and e-mail address)

-  Blinded Manuscript with no author details

Selection will be based on relevance to theme, content, organization, and style.

March 10, 2017 / -Notification of accepted papers
April 10, 2017 / -Submission of PowerPoint presentations
April 24-26, 2017 / -Presentation of acceptedpapers

Selected papers that meet the criteria for publication will be included in the PAARL Research Journal 2017 and will get the chance to receive the Best Research Award 2017.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

1.  Full paper should be in Microsoft Word (*.doc or *.docx)

2.  Authors must follow theInstruction for Authors(below) to be qualified/considered for acceptance.

3.  Authors will be notified after their submission have undergone the peer review process to be conducted by a Committee.

4.  Revision must be submitted within five (5) days upon receipt of letter/notification inviting a revision.

5.  Authors of accepted papers are required to submit a 300-500 word abstract, which will include the proposed title, the full names and affiliations of all authors, and their contact details. In the case of multiple authors, please specify the author who will be presenting the paper at the forum.

6.  It is understood that by these submissions, permission has been granted to publish the papers on the website and in the PAARL Research Journal. However, the papers submitted remain with the authors to do as they please.

In order to give your submission full consideration, please follow these instructions:

Formatting

1.  Font face should be Times New Roman size 12. Title should be in bold face, size 14. Major headings in bold face.

2.  Use letter-sized paper (8.5x11 in.).

3.  Paragraph format should be single-spaced, with justified margins.

4.  Full paper should not exceed 5,000 words.
