The International Relations Service of the IRTS L-R:

The context of internationalisation of the economical and cultural exchanges, the construction of political spaces aiming to harmonize the relationships between European nations, lead us to think out the internationalisation of social work.

Social and medico-social workers are in direct contact with the populations being the most affected by social, economical, political, ecological, geo-strategical changes. Thus, together they have to question their own relationships to the worlds that coexist on the territories through an active discovery of the countries and peoples of the Earth.

The IRTS L-R set up an International Relations Service (IRS) in order to enable our students, enrolled either in Perpignan or in Montpellier, to build a mobility project, either to study or to complete an internship in the ERASMUS+ countries or abroad.

Students from the countries taking part in the European programme are welcome in our two training sites as well.

European mobilities are also open to the institute's teaching and administrative staff.

The International Relations Service's proposals

1. For the students of the institute

In addition to the knowledge needed in order to obtain a diploma, mobility applicants develop skills in terms of adaptability, creativity, self-reliance and initiative. These skills are interesting to the employers and meaningful for everyone's training path.

Every student starting one's 1st year is told about mobility proposals at the beginning of the year:

=> Via ERASMUS+: a 2 months internship and one semester studying in one of the countries taking part in the programme. Within the framework of this programme, scholarships can be granted.

The ERASMUS Charter for higher education issued at the IRTS L-R

In which countries can you plan a mobility project?

The 28 countries members of the European Union:

http://europa.eu/about-eu/countries/index_fr.htm

As well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Turkey, and the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.

Prior to any project, students should visit the programme's website: http://www.erasmusplus.fr/

=> Outside the ERASMUS+ programme, all the other countries are accessible provided compliance with the guidance given on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' website: http://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/fr/conseils-aux-voyageurs/

Students' mobility projects are built throughout the first year of training.

A personalised support process is available and allows our students to achieve working their projects out.

In each of our two sites, a mobility referent is appointed:

Montpellier: Caroline Cantiteau

Perpignan: Michèle Duchateau

For higher trainings: Caroline Malabave

The other projects of the International Relations Service

I. The cross-border space

With a financial help from the Conseil Départemental 66,

the IRTS Perpignan has been enrolled in a partnership actions programme along with the Conseil Comarcal de Figueres, within a period running from October 2015 to June 2016.

Three cross-border groups, comprised of social workers from South and North Catalonia, work on three topics:

=> Child protection

=> Elderly/ Disabled persons

=> Migrants

For further information, our cross-border referent Marion Vernay can be reached at:

This project is being realized in the expectation of a reply about an ESF funding for an Interreg project carried by the University of Perpignan and gathering different universities and training organizations, including the IRTS L-R, from the cross-border space between Toulouse and Barcelona. Submitted on 10 November 2015, we are still waiting for an answer from the European bodies.

II. The European Area

The ERASMUS+ programme allows the development of Strategic Partnerships which enables the cooperation between institutes within the European space, as well as the sharing of good practices within the different sectors of the universities and the training centres.
