PURPOSE OF JOB / Delivery of the WEAF element of the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly ESIF Aerospace & Space – Cluster Growth & Investment Project (ASCGIP)
Commitment / 1.0 FTE
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES / PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Cornwall Aero Sector Programme Management
  • Work with, and report to when required and agreed, the CDC ESIF ASCGIP Manager
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination of the 3 key workstreams: CASTEP, Innovation Vouchers and SC3
  • Ensure appropriate relationships are developed by the team with companies & stakeholders
  • Ensure progress is achieved against the project’s objectives and resolve issues as they arise to maximise progress
  • Manage programme schedules & budgets
  • Manage resources as required to deliver project objectives, reporting to the WEAF CEO – ESIF Project Director
  • Provide reports on project status to stakeholders as required
  • Mitigate programme risks to achieve objectives
  • Work closely with external auditors, WEAF financial support and the Core WEAF team
  • Undertake ESIF project specific tasks on behalfthe WEAF CEO – ESIF Project Director (WEAF) in his or her absence

Key Technical Responsibilities
  • Promote ESIF ASCGIPopportunities in the Cornwall Aero & Space industry, building a community of support.
  • Share best practice to encourage participation.
  • Work with aerospace technology activities around the UK to identify opportunities for cooperation and maximize alignment with AGP.
  • Support the formation of supply chain consortia for technology development projects as agreed with the funding body.
  • Assist small companies as required with proposal writing, ensuring appropriate selection and documentation as an Accountable Body.
  • Monitor technical progress and provide technical mentoring as required.
  • Support the development of advanced technologies to aid beneficiary company progress.
  • Gather best practice for knowledge transfer purposes and for future Programme + sector benefit.
Facilitate links to Academia and Research Organisations:-
  • Establish relationships with relevant academic institutions including RTOs and other skills/research establishments.
  • Work with The Cornwall College Group to deliver the Innovation Voucher Scheme.
  • Convene and lead appropriate meetings for relevant project teams.
  • Support the development and delivery of projects that benefit from direct RTO/academia expertise either as project partner, supplier or otherwise.
  • Assistcompanies who are supported by the Cornwall ESIF Aerohub + G&IP to access the facilities of Universities.

Connect & Integrate Companies with High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres
  • Develop effective working relationships with each of the High Value Manufacturing Catapult Centres.
  • Work with the Catapult Centres to ensure that supply chain projects are appropriately formed.
  • Support the development and delivery of projects that benefit from direct Catapult expertise either as project partner, supplier or otherwise.

Person Specification /
  • Major programme management and supply chain experience
  • Experience at senior engineering level in the aerospace industry
  • Track record of relationship development and partnerships
  • Confident communication skills, open and approachable style
  • Experience of working with Universities and/or research centres
  • Able to present at technical meeting events with up to 200 delegates
  • Experience of facilitating technology events
  • Experience of technical proposal preparation and of public funding requirements
  • Able to work on demand as required by the task
  • Willing to be Cornwall-based, and travel around the South West (and if required the wider UK) to facilitate collaboration
