  • In 2016 FEMME will be a Chamber Choir. The number of voices will be determined by balance, blend and commitment. Choir numbers will be approximately ‘16’ members
  • FEMME will sing a mix of SSA and SSAA material, accompanied and unaccompanied
  • FEMME will have a membership fee of $45 for the year
  • VOCAL LESSONS are expected
  • Each member will attend weekly lessons to learn their part smart so they can stand alone as a soloist and feel confident in their musical product.
  • Particular focus with be given to breathing, vocal production and technique
  • The exact time of lessons are to be finalised
  • Members must be available for the Big Sing Regional on Thursday 16th June and the National Finale on 25th – 27th August in Dunedin at the Dunedin Town Hall. (Depart 24th August and return 28th August)
  • Members will be expected to fundraise to support with vocal lesson payments and specialist coaching opportunities
  • Gigs will be accepted only when a balanced choir can perform
  • Outside coaches will be brought in where appropriate.

Requirements for your audition:

Your Own Song Choice

  • A verse and chorus of a song that showcases your vocal ability and range
  • Pick a song that has a strong and clean melody line
  • Know your song off by heart
  • It must be sung unaccompanied
  • Include expression and dynamics

The National Anthem: accompanied

  • One verse – your choice which one
  • You may either sing the melody or a harmony. Miss Rae will sing another part against you

The Audition Panel is Miss Rae and Mr Munn.

Auditions are Wednesday 3rd, Thursday 4th and Friday 5th February at Interval and Lunchtime. There will also be some last minute opportunities on Tuesday, 9th Febriary. You are welcome to email Miss Rae for a time.

On the final recall day (Tuesday, 9th February from 3.20pm until 4.45pm) a guest panelist will also be in attendance. If selected for a call back you must be there. Failure to do so will result in you missing out on being considered for a place in the choir.

FEMME rehearses every Thursday from 3.20pm until 5pm.
