Please note: ALL 3.30 – 4.30pm after school clubs are now chargeable at £3.50 per club with payment to be made to St Matthew’s CE Academy. * With the exception of the Thursday French Clubs with payments to Miss Fanion. The school clubs are included in the price for those who are using the before and after school care.

THE SCHOOL GATE WILL BE LOCKED AFTER THE 4.30PM. WHEN COLLECTING YOUR CHILDREN AFTER THIS TIME, PLEASE USE THE FRONT MAIN ENTRANCE.

END OF YEAR EXPECTATIONS

During parent’s evening you will have received an end of year expectations booklet, which will contain information of what will be taught in class during the course of this academic year, and also how your child’s learning can be helped at home. If you did not attend parent’s evening, they will be sent home on Monday.

PHOTOGRAPHS

On Friday 25th September the children will be having their individual photographs taken. If the children have pre-school siblings, we will be holding a session between 8.30am – 8.55am. If the children have siblings in school, these will be taken as part of the morning.

COFFEE MORNING

On Friday 25th September 9.30am – 11.00am, we will be taking part in the largest coffee morning in the country, all in aid of Douggy Mac. We will also be selling cakes after school with all proceeds going to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice.

Also, on Friday October 9th is bring a pound to work day, again with all proceeds going to this excellent cause.

PARENT LUNCHES

From April 2015 we began to invite parents/grandparents/carers from different classes to join us for lunch on our Wednesday Roast Day. The meal will need to be ordered and will cost £3.00. If you would like to attend please request a menu from Mrs Wilson. For week commencing 14thSeptember it will be the parents/grandparents/carers fromCLASS 3. Anyone who would like to join us for lunch should be at school for around 12.10pm.

GET FAMILIES LEARNING

Attached to this newsletter is a 2015/16 learning menu. It includes details of different courses that will encourage a parent/carer and child to interact and work together.

ST FRANCIS CHURCH

From 3rd to 8th October between 9am and 5pm, St Francis Parish Church will be hosting an Exhibition on the Turin Shroud, featuring life-sized, high definition replicas. A full programme of events is detailed on the flyer positioned in the school office front window.

DINNER MONEY

Please remember that dinner money should be paid for in advance on a Monday. The money should be brought into school in a purse/wallet or envelope clearly marked with your child’s name. The cost of dinners is currently £2.30/day or £11.50 per week. School meals should be paid for any child in Year 3 or above.

AFTER SCHOOL COOKERY AND CROSS-STITCH

The response to the after school cookery club was very good and we will be starting the cookery club on a Monday after school between 3.30pm and 4.30pm from Monday 5th October. Due to the fantastic response we will notify everyone who has been given a place before the club is due to start. If there are too many pupils on this occasion, they will be allocated a space in next term.

Also starting during week commencing 5th October on a Wednesday afternoon will be cross-stitch club, anyone interested in starting this club, would you please notify either Mrs Wilson or Mrs Probyn.

ATTENDANCE

Also, please note that we cannot authorised any holiday during term time, due to a change in legislation which came into effect in September 2014.

HAIRCUTS

Can we please draw parent’s attention to the school policy on school uniform and appropriate hair styles. Parents are also asked not to allow their children to have any extreme hairstyles including patterns cut into the hair or Mohican style spikes which may or may not require gel. Long hair should always be tied back.

HEALTH AND SAFETY

Please note: if any child wears ear-rings, these cannot be worn during PE lessons. If your child cannot remove them by themselves, they should be removed on the morning of the PE lesson. If any child is wearing ear-rings that they cannot remove themselves, they cannot take part in PE.

SCHOOL WEBSITE

We have changed some of the features of the school website. All information for parents, including: weekly newsletters, class newsletters, the Ofsted link and code of conduct can now be accessed from the parent menu tab along the top of the webpage.
