Article I

Name:

Section 1: This organization shall be known as the Vagina Monologues of Westfield State University. Here after known as the Vagina Monologues.

Article II

Purpose:

Section 1: The Vagina Monologues Organization of Westfield State will be an organization set up to honor V-Day, to talk about the rights and privileges women of all different races and cultures have and do not have. This organization will be part of the national V-Day campaign every year, performing the Vagina Monologues every year during spring semester. This club will work with the Westfield State University community, as well as the City of Westfield Community by building awareness and offering support for all women.

Article III

Membership:

Section 1: Membership shall be open to all full-time and part-time undergraduate students of Westfield State University who have paid their student activities fee for the current academic semester.

Section 2: Members are considered to be active if they attend and participate in Seventy-five percent (75) of club meetings and activities.

Article IV

Officers:

Section 1: The officers of the club will be: Senior Director, Junior Director, President, Vice President, Treasurer, Secretary and Multimedia Director.

Section 2: Duties of the officers

  1. Senior Director: Divide the script, direct the production, and ensure communication between the cast and the board.
  2. Junior Director: Assist the senior director in dividing the script, directing the production.
  3. President: Handling any dealings with SGA, run board meetings, handle logistics of the production and be in direct contact with the senior director.
  4. Vice President: Assist president in handling logistics of the production as well as assisting the president.
  5. Treasure: Handling all monetary transactions
  6. Secretary: Keep track of attendance at rehearsals/meetings as well as taking notes in all board meetings.
  7. Multimedia Director: Makes all flyers, programs, tickets, and helps coordinate outfits for performances.

Section 3: Any active member is eligible to hold office.

Section 4: Every office term is one (1) academic year.

Article V

Advisors

Section 1: Advisors are open to any Faculty, Staff, or Librarian.

Section 2: The duties of the advisor are to be the following when consulted by the board. Attend board meetings as well as rehearsals. Assist in deciding where all donations will go and if they choose, to assist in directing.

Section 3:Advisors will be selected by a vote of all active members of the club. The votes must be fifty percent (50%) plus one (1) to be selected as an advisor.

Article VI

Elections

Section 1:Any active member of the organization can nominate someone for an officer position.

Section 2: The members will vote by secret paper ballot and the non-voting member will tally the votes.

Section 3: No election may be held if there is not a quorum of fifty percent (50%) of the club members plus one (1) present at the meeting.

Section 4:The board will select a non-voting member to vote only in the event of a tie.

Section 5: All officers will be selected at the beginning of each academic year with the exception of the senior director, junior director, and president which will be chosen in the spring.

Article VII

Meetings:

Section 1: The club will meet no less than once (1) every two (2) weeks.

Section 2: The officers may meet separately from the club without the advisors whenever deemed necessary as long as the secretary takes the minutes and communicates what was discussed with or without the advisor and the club members.

Section 3: The senior director and president may call special meetings if necessary.

Article VIII

Vacancies:

Section 1: If an office becomes vacant, the club will hold elections as stated in Article VI.

Section 2: If an advisor positon becomes vacant the board will vote to select a new advisor (majority vote).

Article IX

Amending Procedure:

Section 1: This constitution may be amended by a two-thirds (2/3) majority vote of the voting members of the club and if approved by the Rules and Regulations Committee of the Student Government Association.

Article X

Removal from office:

Section 1: If an officer is not preforming their duties they can be removed by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the club members.

Section 2: If an advisor is not preforming their duties they can be removed by two-thirds (2/3) vote of the club members.
