ALTERNATIVE FORMULA 1 RECIPES

(for when you feel like eating your shake, as opposed to drinking your shake!)

DATE DELIGHTS
1/8 cup butter
¼ cup raw honey
1 dessertspoon water
¼ cup Vanilla Formula 1
1 cup chopped dates
1 cup Muesli (low fat – check nutritional label)
Melt butter and honey, add water, add dates and cook until dates are almost dissolved. Cool slightly, add muesli and Formula 1. Mix thoroughly. When cool enough to handle, roll into balls. Optional – roll in coconut or finely chopped nuts. Makes 2 “shake” equivalent.
SWEET DELIGHT
1 packet instant pudding mix (any flavor)
2 cups low fat milk
8 level dessertspoons Formula #1 powder, your choice of flavor
Mix all ingredients until firm using electric beater (approx 2 mins). Pour into small serving dishes and refrigerate. (each serve equals one shake). Add Dairy Whip if desired.
For variety change the taste by using coconut essence, almond essence, peppermint essence, etc.
Flavor suggestions: Chocolate Instant pudding, Chocolate Formula 1 with Peppermint essence.
Vanilla instant pudding, Tropical Fruit Formula 1, 2 dessertspoons. passionfruit pulp, optional:-few drops coconut essence, handful of pineapple pieces added before pouring into dishes..
PEANUT BUTTER SESAME SEED BARS
½ cup Formula 1 Vanilla
¾ cup skim milk powder
1 cup old fashioned or Quick oats
¾ cup Lite Peanut Butter
½ cup honey
1 dessertspoon warm water
Sesame seeds (mix in for consistency)
Place all of the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Press mixture into a 9” x 9” pan. Refrigerate and cut into brownie like bars. Each bar equals one “shake”.
GOODIE BARS
240g carob chips (or chocolate)
6 dessertspoons lite peanut butter
1 teasp. Vanilla Essence
1 cup fresh toasted wheat germ
1 cup Vanilla or Chocolate Formula 1.
Mix first three ingredients thoroughly. Stir in wheat germ and Formula 1. Mix in thoroughly. Press into a greased 8” square pan. Chill until firm. Cut into 8 bars and individually wrap. Store in refrigerator. 1 bar = 1 serving of Shake.
BEST CRUNCH BUTTERBALLS
½ cup lite peanut butter
½ cup raw honey
½ cup Formula 1 Vanilla
1 cup fresh toasted wheat germ
1 cup chopped roasted peanuts
1 cup chopped fresh sunflower seeds
Mix all ingredients thoroughly, roll into balls and dust with coconut or finely chopped nuts. Refrigerate.
PEANUT BUTTER FUDGE
1 cup formula 1 Vanilla or Chocolate
½ cup lite peanut butter
1/3 cup honey
1 cup skim milk powder
Mix Formula 1 and dry milk together. Mix peanut butter and honey together. Add dry ingredients to wet and mix well. Pour into loaf pan. Put into the fridge for 1 hour then cut into 8 pieces. Each piece equals 1 Shake!
HOMEMADE SOUPS
Make up your favorite soup recipes, modifying them to be low fat. (eg. no frying veges in butter or oil, just boil/steam them instead). I have one dstp. Vanilla Formula 1 and 1 dstp. Protein Powder, when having my shake this way. Mix in a little at a time and whisk with fork to mix in.
You can’t taste it – it just tastes like normal soup, but with all the extra goodness and vitality!

SALMON & TOAST
2 level dessertspoons French Vanilla Formula 1
4 dessertspoons salmon mousse
Mix and spread onto hot toast or dry biscuits.
CHEWY, CRUNCHY SNACK BARS
Mix together:
½ cup + 1 dessertspoon oats
1 cup Formula 1 Vanilla
¼ cup wheat germ (wheat bran)
½ cup rice bubbles (or dry cereal of your choice)
Add:
1/3 cup lite peanut butter
½ cup honey
Blend together thoroughly. Press into an 8” square pan. Cut into eight equal portions. Wrap individually and refrigerate. One bar contains only 118 calories and 7 grams of fat. Each portion equals one “shake”.
Options:
Cinnamon to taste. Or a couple of drops Vanilla Essence to taste.
1 cup skim milk powder (if you add this, you will also need to add 1½ dessertspoons of water. Also remember that, while this will increase the amount of protein, it will also slightly increase the calorie count.
MUFFIN RECIPE WITH FORMULA 1
1 cup Formula 1 (French Vanilla or Chocolate)
3 large ripe bananas
½ cup honey
¾ cup applesauce
2 large eggs
3 dessertspoons plain yoghurt or low fat sour cream
1 teasp. Baking soda
1 ¾ cups whole wheat flour
(Optional: raisins or nuts).
Heat oven to 375, mash bananas in big mixing bowl, add honey, eggs, Formula 1 and applesauce. Mix well. Stir baking soda in yoghurt, add sifted flour. Mix together and stir. Pour into 12-muffin tin. Bake 15 -20 mins. Makes 12 large muffins. 1 muffin equals one shake! 120 calories, 7 grams fat.
BERRY MUFFINS
1 cup of Berry Formula 1
1 cup currants
½ cup honey
¾ cup chunky applesauce
2 large eggs
3 tbsp. plain yoghurt or low fat sour cream
1 teasp baking soda
1 ¾ cups whole-wheat flour
