Job Title / Purpose of Position: Key Stage Leader of English
Person Specification
Six Key Roles:
- Support the Head of Faculty in leading and managing the English team.
- Strategic development and direction of Englishat KS3 within the college
- Oversight of KS3 English and its day to day provision
- Oversight of KS3 examinations in English
- Responsible for raising standards, setting targets and monitoring progress
- Development of additional opportunities to enrich the experience of students studying English
Professional Qualifications
- Qualified teacher status
- English related degree
Teaching and Learning
- Experience of examination at GCSE
- Excellent classroom practitioner
- Up-to-date knowledge of NC
- Good understanding of assessment for learning and target setting
- Successful teaching record in English
- A passion for innovative learning
Leading and Managing Staff
- Experience as a successful member of a department team
- Understanding and experience of departmental self-evaluation
- Ability to manage a team into a cohesive unit
- Good personal management skills
- Commitment to taking an active role in the college’s middle management forum
Strategic Direction and Development
- Successful experience of managing change
- Experience of department/school Improvement planning
- Clear vision of how to provide for students across the ability range and how the English curriculum can be developed to personalise learning
Deployment of Resources
- Ability to manage a budget
- Ability to maximize the effectiveness of staff deployment

- Experience of working with external agencies
