Job title: Transport team Leader

Division: Apex II

Responsible to:Transport Supervisor

2. Job Purpose:

  • To oversee the organisation and control of efficient and profitable transport operations within the Depot in order to provide a high quality service to the customer, whilst working within the constraints of Company policy and relevant legal requirements.

3. Key Tasks / Responsibilities:

  • Support Supervisor/Manager and provide cover in their absence
  • Daily Scheduling of work load and vehicles
  • Produce and complete drivers load/run load sheets with relevant information
  • Allocate work to drivers ensuring compliance with EU regulations on working time/driver time
  • Agency requirements and utilisation
  • Spot hire fleet as required
  • Label and arrange third party collections / deliveries
  • Deal with customer requests/requirements and etas
  • Update driver allocation list
  • Authorise/Monitor payments for vehicles travelling into the congestion zones
  • Audit drivers waiting time / unmeasured time
  • Record additional volume costs (transfers & bulk)
  • Maintain delivery schedules
  • Downloading of vehicles & drivers cards
  • Ensure drivers are legally compliant at all times
  • Ensure drivers adhere to all H & S requirements
  • Ensure vehicles are serviced accordance with maintenance agreements
  • Authorising and managing drivers holidays
  • Working bank holidays
  • Out of hours calls (on a rota basis)

4. Financial Responsibilities:

  • Control of operational costs in accordance with agreed budgets
  • Control costs associated with vehicle damage & repair
  • Control costs associated to agency usage
