Goals

I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Digital Sciences with a concentration in Software Development at Kent State University with an expected graduation date of May 2015. I seek to further my knowledge of Information Technology, Software Development and Web Design and continuously expand it in terms of new programming languages, technologies, design patterns, and techniques. Keeping up with this knowledge allows me to follow my passion for improving software design and, by extension, user experience.

Programming Languages

I am proficient in the following programming, query, and markup languages: C++, C#, ASP.NET (web forms and MVC), Python, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, HTML and CSS. In the context of web development, I have front-end and back-end development experience with content management systems WordPress and Drupal. I am familiar with current HTML5 markup and CSS3 properties and selectors. I am also experienced with various CSS and JavaScript libraries and frameworks such as Bootstrap, Foundation, jQuery, AJAX, and AngularJS.

Experience & Achievements

  • As part of my undergraduate Capstone project, I am a member of a development team building a website for our client, KEDTech. My project role is developing a CMS backend based on PHP and MySQL from scratch. I am also developing the administrator account, access, and authentication component for the CMS control panel.   • In my current position as Student Application Developerin the Web Presence team in Information Services at Kent State University, I assist full-time developers with troubleshooting, testing, and programming many of our ASP.NET MVC web applications, especially our automated workflow systems. I am also actively involved in development for our Drupal content management system.
  • In my previous position at Kent State University's Student Recreation and Wellness Center, I assist the Lead IT User Support Analyst in maintaining the approximately 200 computers in the facility. I ensure that any problems that staff or customers encounter when interacting with any computer system are resolved quickly and in an efficient manner. I also successfully performed the responsibilities of the Lead IT User Support Analyst when that position was empty for two months in spring 2014.
  • From 1998 to 2002 I was a member of the International Taekwondo Alliance, attaining the rank of Decided First Degree Black Belt under my primary instructor, David Vincent, in Baton Rouge, LA, and Senior Second Degree Black Belt under Donald Rozman in Pittsburgh, PA. I was also a Trainee Instructor and assisted in teaching children’s classes.

My hobbies include: hiking, skiing, yoga, cycling, martial arts, chess, gaming, and building computers.
