SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

1.  RULES

1.1  The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2  Racing rule 41 OUTSIDE HELP will be changed as follows:

During the Passage Race, Race 1, competitors may take assistance from the support boats, without penalty, while sailing from the entrance to the Marina, until within the basin, described as The Marina Central.

2.  NOTICES TO COMPETITORS

Notices to competitors will be posted on the official notice board located at the Goolwa Aquatic Club.

3.  CHANGES TO SAILING INSTRUCTIONS

Any change to the sailing instructions will be posted before 0930 on Saturday 16th January.

4.  SCHEDULE OF RACES

4.1  All racing Saturday 16th January 2016

4.2  Race 1 – passage race to The Marina Central 1100 from the GAC

Races 2 to 5 1130-1400

4.3  No warning signal will be made after 1330

5.  CLASS FLAGS

Hansa 303 Naval numeral pennant 1

Open division Naval numeral pennant 2

Intermediate division Naval numeral pennant 3

Green division Green pennant

6.  RACING AREAS

6.1. The passage race is from the Goolwa Aquatic Club, Barrage Rd, Goolwa, across the river and through the Marina to Marina Central. Attachment 1

6.2 The racing area within the Marina is as per Attachment 2

7.  THE COURSES

The courses will be decided on the day, Saturday 16th January, taking into account the wind speeds and direction.

The courses will be posted on the official notice board before the briefing at 1030.

8.  MARKS

9.1 Marks of the course will be “stick” buoys displaying pink and yellow flags.

9.2 The starting marks will display orange flags.

9.3 The finishing marks will display blue flags

9. THE START

9.1 Races will be started as follows

This changes Rule 26

9.2 The starting line will be between an orange flag on the starting vessel on the starboard end, and a staff displaying on orange flag on the port end.

9.3. Boats whose warning signal has not been made shall avoid the starting area during the starting sequence for other races.

9.4. A boat that has been subject to an individual recall shall restart by sailing around either end of the line. She may not “dip start”.

This changes Rule 29.1

10.  THE FINISH

The finish line will be between a blue flag on the shore and a staff displaying a blue flag.

11.  SCORING

11.1 Race 1, the passage race will be scored alone.

11.2 Races 2-5, all completed races will be scored.

12. PRIZES

Prizes will be awarded to the first three placegetters in each division.

Prizes for the passage race will be awarded to non-winners of the races 2-5

Prizes will be awarded at The Goolwa Aquatic Club at 1430.

12.  INSURANCE

Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third party insurance with a minimum cover of $2 million per incident or the equivalent.

13.  DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY

Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4 RRS, Decision to Race. The organising authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
