CORNERSTONE COURIER INVITATIONAL TOURNAMENT
TOURNAMENT RULES
- The rules of Softball Canada with all PWSA modifications apply except where covered by these rules.
- Sign In Process: If your first game is at Hallman, your team package will be at the gate once you enter the park. After getting your package, proceed to your diamond. If your first game is at Hillside Park, find the game controller to obtain your package.
- Proof of player’s age should be available if requested.
- Home team is decided by flip of a coin, with the team furthest away making the call. The home team is the official scorer. The WINNING team is responsible for reporting the score to the games controller.
- All teams must be ready to take the field 15 minutes before the scheduled game time. Line up cards must be filled out and submitted to the game controller 15 minutes prior to the scheduled game time.
- There is no infield practice on the game diamond on the dirt portion inside the foul lines. Please allow the field crews the space to safely groom the fields.
- Two (2) out catcher substitution is allowed (optional).
- For clarification, we will be playing a 9 player batting order, with the usual DH/DEFO rules.
- A team may borrow players from other teams in order to field a team, provide they have a Letter of Permission from the other team.
- All games are 7 innings and are played to completion to declare a winner – exceptions are mercy rule and games called due to rain or other unforeseen reason (4 ½ or 5 innings needed for a complete game). Game will resume at point of interruption if not completed. In order to complete the games in the 2 hour slots allocated, please ensure your players are hustling on and off the field, and delays are kept to a minimum. Note: Games are complete once a winner is determined – innings are not to be completed once a result has been determined.
- Games tied after 7 inning will use the International Tie Breaker in the eighth and further.
- For clarity, mercy rule is 15 after 3 innings or 7 after 5 innings.
- Tie Breaker – ties in standing will be broken in order by the following;
Head to Head (for 2 teams tied, or multiple if 1 team won against all other in the tie)
Number of runs allowed, least wins
Net runs for and against, highest wins
Coin Flip – team furthest away to call
- There are no protests allowed – umpires’ decisions are final.
- The format of the tournament may be subject to change due to unforeseen events. Decisions made by the Tournament Committee are final.
