MRS. JACKSON
SPANISH TEACHER
August, 2016
Dear Parents/Guardians:
My name is Mrs. Jackson, and I am your son’s/daughter’s Spanish teacher. I am sincerely honored to be your student’s teacher, and I am also very excited to be responsible for advancing his/her knowledge of the Spanish language. I am a native speaker (I grew up in Argentina) and have continued to use the language regularly for the many years I have lived in the United States. This is my seventh year teaching for the Highly Gifted Magnet and my thirteenth year as a Spanish teacher. Having your child in my class is truly a challenge for me since this is my first year teaching Spanish 1 for the HGM, and as you probably know, the entire content of two semesters must be covered in only one. I am certainly up for the challenge, and I hope your student is as well.
I started the first few days of class explaining to students how we organize the class to make it work for everyone and what students should expect from me. The information I gave included my rules, policies for grading and make up work, routing procedures, and of course, the course outline. All of the information presented to students is included on my website. If you wish to see the specific documents that relate to this information, please visit www.nhhs.net. To get to my page click Teacher/Staff on the left side and then on my name.
Teaching young people is a joint effort between students, teachers and parents. I am committed to doing whatever I can to do my part, and I would like to ask that you help in this endeavor.
I let students know continuously how they are doing in the classroom. Every one of my students is asked to copy the agenda down everyday so that they know exactly what will be covered that day. The agenda also contains the homework assigned for that day and upcoming projects, tests, etc. Some of this information will also be available on my website. If you want to keep track of what you child is doing in this class, just ask him/her to show you the agendas. I post grades on a regular basis. If you wish to know the grade your child is getting in my class between report cards, he/she should be able to tell you and as of this year, you should be able to check it online. I am also available to speak to you on the phone or personally whenever you wish. You can send me a message to my school e-mail at or call me at school and leave a message. The phone number is 818 753-6200.
I would like to request that you read this letter and sign at the bottom portion of this letter to acknowledge its receipt. Again, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
I look forward to working with your student and to meeting you some time in the future.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Jackson
