JOB DESCRIPTION

POST TITLE: Senior Corporate Services Officer - Governance
CAR USER: n/a / GRADE/SALARY: SO1/SO2 (SCP 29-34) / HOURS: 36.15 hours
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
To Contribute to a high quality, cost effective Corporate Services Team, through supporting management in the delivery of services
To provide professional advice and guidance to the organisation in order to meet statutory requirements and mitigate risks.
Main purpose of the post:
Governance & Performance Management
  1. To be responsible for the servicing and administration of the Authority’s formal decision-making structure, including dispatch of agendas, minute-taking and publication and communication of decisions taken.

  1. To be the first point of contact for all advice and administrative matters for the Authority’s formal decision-making processes to ensure that they are compliant with legal requirements, timely and accurate, responsive to the Authority’s needs and cost effective.

  1. To assist in monitoring the statutory and non-statutory registers/records as directed by the Monitoring Officer.

  1. Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the Authority’s Performance Monitoring framework.

  1. Contribute to the development and implementation of key strategies, policies, systems and processes which support the achievement of Corporate Services and the Authority’s aims and objectives.

  1. To use knowledge of anticipated changes in relevant legislation to identify priorities for strategy and policy development.

  1. Promote, support and encourage a corporate performance management culture that enables the framework to drive continuous improvement.

  1. Keep abreast of new developments, horizon scanning for new initiatives and innovation.

  1. Recognise and respond to the political environment and expectations, addressing any sensitivity and taking an appropriate view of service priorities and requirements.

  1. To undertake duties and support Team Members in all areas of responsibility, within Corporate Services.

  1. To prepare reports and make presentations to the Authority on relevant matters as and when required.

  1. Support the development of team colleagues so that they feel empowered, valued and motivated to meet service objectives.

STANDARD RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Accountable for ensuring the Health & Safety responsibilities against the role are met.

  1. To promote equality of opportunities and the Authority’s values at all times.

  1. Representing the Authority at a local, District and national level as required.

  1. To be involved with and contribute to the introduction and development of new initiatives, procedures and working methods relating to the activities and work of the section.

  1. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the level of the post.

  1. Officers and staff of the Authority, representatives of local authorities, various organisations, agencies and other bodies with whom the Authority has dealings.
  1. Members of the public.
