Joint resolution in memory of Christine “Chrissy” A. Behan
Offered by: Representative Morrissey of Bennington
Whereas, Christine “Chrissy” A. Behan was a native and lifelong resident of Bennington, and
Whereas, as a youngster who was afflicted with cancer, she lived her life with optimism and vigor, and
Whereas, she particularly cherished her experience swimming with dolphins off Key West, Florida under the auspices of the Make a Wish Foundation, and
Whereas, Chrissy’s optimistic outlook for her future was ideally symbolized in June 2000, when she carried the torch, leading the Survivors’ Walk at the local Relay for Life, and
Whereas, she was a member of the class of 2002 at Mt. Anthony Union High School, and
Whereas, when not attending school, Chrissy volunteered at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in order to help others who experienced medical problems, and
Whereas, she was also employed part-time in a local pharmacy, and
Whereas, tragically, her life abruptly concluded on March 21, 2001 when she died at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center where she had dedicated so many hours helping to extend the gift of hope, and
Whereas, her classmates at Mt. Anthony Union High School were deeply saddened to learn of Chrissy’s passing, and
Whereas, her parents, Thomas and Dorothy Behan, her sister and brother-in-law, Tiffany and Louis Tobin, and her fiancé, Bob Zink supported Chrissy in her valiant effort to extend her life, and
Whereas, Chrissy Behan can serve as a special inspiration for young persons who are battling cancer and other serious diseases, now therefore be it
Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives:
That the General Assembly extends its sincere sympathy to the family of Christine “Chrissy” A. Behan, and be it further
Resolved: That the Secretary of State be directed to send a copy of this resolution to Thomas and Dorothy Behan of Bennington, Tiffany and Louis Tobin of Woodford and Bob Zink of Bennington.
