Wk 2 Sem 1:
Monday:
have students download (McGraw Hill) ConnectED appStudents:UN: BISDstudentlunch# PW: bmonthdayyeareg. b01212000
Lesson Procedures and Student Tasks: warm up (on line textbook)/ finish bonding lab/ begin biochemistry power point- intro to biomolecules/ Homework is to down load the McGraw Hill app and log on!
ENGAGEMENT: (How will the teacher capture the students' interest?)
-finish bonding lab in groups of 3/ warm up
EXPLORATION: (Describe what hands-on/minds-on activities students will be doing)
-Power point over biochemistry
EVALUATION: (How will students demonstrate that they have achieved the lesson objective?)
-assessment with power point
Accommodations/Modifications/Extensions:
Notes/Reflections: water is the universal solvent
Tuesday:
9A/4B
Lesson Procedures and Student Tasks: warm up/ finish Biochem P.P and questions
ENGAGEMENT:(How will the teacher capture the students' interest?)
- Power point presentation for a visual and feedback
ELABORATION:(How will students develop a more sophisticated or real life understanding of the concept?)
- steroids are lipids. dont confuse it with a sugar. not a 1:2:1 ratio very little oxygen and rings bond together instead of oxygen holding them together like in polysaccharides.
EVALUATION:(How will students demonstrate that they have achieved the lesson objective?)
- PP assessment/ feedback
Wednesday:
Lesson Procedures and Student Tasks: Warm up/ edusmart 9A / biomolecule pic element count
ENGAGEMENT:(How will the teacher capture the students' interest?)
-Edusmart 9A
ELABORATION:(How will students develop a more sophisticated or real life understanding of the concept?)
-Hydrolysis (H2O splitting ploymers/ polymerization (dehydration synthesis) water given off
EVALUATION:(How will students demonstrate that they have achieved the lesson objective?)
-ask questions about each and have them count elements and tell the element that make up the biomolecule
Accommodations/Modifications/Extensions:
Notes/Reflections:
Thursday:
Lesson Procedures and Student Tasks: warm up
ENGAGEMENT:(How will the teacher capture the students' interest?)
- The students will build a model ofdifferent elements that are bonding togetherso they will have a visual of different types of bonds.
ELABORATION:(How will students develop a more sophisticated or real life understanding of the concept?)
- give characteristics of each macromolecule as well as examples. for example: Sugar-ring- 1:2:1 ratio-glucose/ carbohydrates/ starch...... / Proteins- Polypeptides/ don't forget to explain a hydrogen bond and that it is a bond between polar molecules and how opposites attract. this explains adhesion +end attracted to the -end of another polar molecule.
EVALUATION:(How will students demonstrate that they have achieved the lesson objective?)
-
Accommodations/Modifications/Extensions:
Notes/Reflections:
Friday:
Biology
Lesson Procedures and Student Tasks: weekly quiz 1/finish building macromolecules lab
ENGAGEMENT:(How will the teacher capture the students' interest?)
- The students will be able tobuild a model of biomolecules
EXPLORATION:(Describe what hands-on/minds-on activities students will be doing)
-
EXPLANATION:(What questions/techniques will the teacher use to help students connect their exploration to the concept?)
- The students will be able to explain how they identified each biomolecule as well as give a use for each.
ELABORATION:(How will students develop a more sophisticated or real life understanding of the concept?)
-
EVALUATION:(How will students demonstrate that they have achieved the lesson objective?)
-
Accommodations/Modifications/Extensions:
Edusmart 9A DNA (nucleic acids/ because I didn’t finish it Wednesday)
