JOB TITLE:Communications and Marketing Officer – Publications

DEPARTMENT:Communications and Marketing

HOURS: 18 hours (0.5 FTE)

SALARY: £22,225 – £24,000

RESPONSIBLE TO:Communications and Marketing Manager

Primary Job Purpose

  • To work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to create, review and deliver a range of printed materials which support St Christopher’s charitable objectives.

Principal Accountabilities

1. To coordinate and produce a wide range of marketing communications including flyers,

posters, brochures, banners, etc. by producing copy, proof reading, and co-ordinating agencies and suppliers.

2. Write, edit and produce Exchange, St Christopher’s monthly employee and volunteer

newsletter.

3. Write, edit and produce Connections, St Christopher’s quarterly supporter magazine.

4. Work proactively with patients, families, volunteers, staff and supporters to capture their

stories for use in publications, wider press and online.

5. Where appropriate, act as a support to those who share their story and signpost people in

need of further support and/orraise safeguarding concerns where appropriate.

6. Assist the Fundraising and Retail Team’s with the production of marketing and publicity

material.

7. Maintain a stock control system for printed material.

8. Work with the Communications and Marketing Manager to establish a regular review

system for patient information materials.

9. Work with colleagues from across the hospice, as well as patients and families, to ensure

St Christopher’s materials meet everyone’s needs and are both engaging and informative.

10. To arrange effective distribution of marketing materials, both internally and externally.

11.Ensure noticeboards throughout the hospice are engaging, current and tidy.

12. Reporting on project status on a monthly basis. Also to monitor competitor activity.

13. On occasion to write copy for the website.

14. Maintain the hospice photograph library and storage system of relevant consent

information, ensuring currency.

15. Take photographs of patients and families as required to support staff and at fundraising

events and liaise with contracted photographers as required.

16. Establish and maintain excellent relationships with staff at all levels.

17. Along with other members of the Communications and Marketing Team, ensure the

corporate image and branding is maintained throughout all communication channels.

18. To undertake any other duties considered to fall within the scope of the position as

directed by the Communications and Marketing Manager.

Safeguarding/MCA and DoLS

Staff are required to take responsibility in all areas of work for safeguarding people at risk (both adults and children) from any form of abuse or neglect. When delivering care and support, staffs are required to comply with the requirements of legislation relating to care in the UK, including the Care Act (2014), and Mental Health Capacity Act 2005, which incorporates the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). In order to achieve this, all staff are required to read St. Christopher’s Safeguarding Policy and Procedure and to participate in both regular training and training updates and to incorporate preventative strategies into their work, as applicable.

General
