A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING JAMES ALEXANDER HAMILTON III FOR WINNING THE 2004 SOUTH CAROLINA AMATEUR GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP.
Whereas, University of South Carolina senior golfer Alex Hamilton, of Aiken, won the seventythird annual South Carolina Amateur Championship on Sunday, August 8, 2004; and
Whereas, Hamilton finished with a seventytwo hole score of sixunderpar, claiming a sixstroke victory. The fourday event was held at the Columbia Country Club in Blythewood; and
Whereas, he is the son of Jim and Pam Hamilton, of Aiken, and is currently a senior at the University of South Carolina, Moore School of Business with a second major in Real Estate; and
Whereas, Hamilton excels both on and off the golf course, boasting a 3.35 grade point average. He is a scholar athlete, member of the Southeastern Conference Honor Roll, and a 2004 recipient of the Cleveland Golf All American Scholar Award; and
Whereas, Hamilton is a member of the 2004 All Southeastern Conference Team; and
Whereas, he has participated and placed at many prestigious tournaments including: fifth place at the 2004 Southeastern Conference Championships, second place at the 2004 Monroe Invitational, third place at the 2004 Gary Koch Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate, ninth place at the 2004 Southern Amateur, eleventh place at the 2003 US Amateur, third place at the 2003 Southern Amateur, seventh place at the 2003 Rice Planter’s, fourth place at the 2003 South Carolina Amateur, and second place at the 2002 Rice Planter’s; and
Whereas, it is with great pleasure and admiration that the General Assembly recognizes such outstanding talent on and off the golf course as Alex Hamilton. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate James Alexander Hamilton III for winning the 2004 South Carolina Amateur Golf Championship.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to James Alexander Hamilton III.
