Jockey Club Community Healthcare Education Scholarship
General Information (2016-2017)
Introduction
With the generous donation from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, an entry scholarship scheme has been established to award outstanding academic performance and financially in-need students to start studying in the Certificate in Health Studies (Community Health Care) or Diploma in Health Studies (Community Health Care) programmes as offered by The Open University of Hong Kong.
The scholarship
- Annual scholarship awards of $15,000 each will be offered to students studying in the Certificate in Health Studies (Community Health Care) or the first year of the Diploma in Health Studies (Community Health Care) programmes. The total number of scholarship recipients will not exceed 20% of the total number of students within these two programmes.
- Annual scholarship awards of $15,000 each will be offered to students studying in the second year of the Diploma in Health Studies (Community Health Care) programme. The total number of scholarship recipients will not exceed 40% of the total number of students within the diploma programme.
Eligibility
Students applying for scholarship should show satisfactory academic performance in the study programme and a needy financial condition which warrant external support. Selected candidates may be required to attend an interview.
Method of Application
All completed form and supporting documents should be submitted to the following address before the deadline. Please indicate “Application for Jockey Club Community Healthcare Education Scholarship” on the envelope.

- Academic performance
- For the certificate or the first year of the diploma programmes, assessment of academic results will be based on the applicants’ performance in the first assessment of HESC S101C, HESC S102C and HESC S103C. The results will be retrieved from the Registry.
- For the second year of the diploma programme, the results of HESC S101C, HESC S102C and HESC S103C will be used for assessment. The results will be retrieved from the Registry.
- Supporting Documents, Declaration and Consent
ALL submitted materials will be considered in the selection process. The application form will be destroyed by the University 12 months after the application exercise is completed. Before submission of application, please make sure that you have prepared the photocopies of all relevant supporting documents.
