To be a hippie you must believe in peace as the only way to overcome contradictions between people. The way to peace goes through love and tolerance. Love for them means accepting others as they are, giving them freedom to express themselves.
Upon the whole my attitude to hippies is rather positive, still I can’t accept people, using drugs. And besides, I prefer an active and organized way of life.

VALERIA: Hippies is a youth organization, which appeared in the USA in the 1960s and stopped existing in the middle 1970s. Hippies include teenagers of the age from fifteen to twenty-five years.
The first hippies cities were opened in 1966, where all representatives of subculture could receive free food, medical aid and accommodation. Such places were called “free cities”, the biggest of which is Christiania (Holland).
Their slogan is “ Spread love, not war”. Hippies show their indifference to money and career.

My attitude to hippies is positive, because they are eager to change the world for the best, and they also against war. But it’s awful, that they take drugs. I think, this is the reason, why people think badly of hippies.
VERONICA: The hippies’ movement was born in the 60s. On the 4th of July 1972 young people took each other by hand and said nothing. It was the first “ meeting of the rainbow”. Their slogans are
“ Make Love, Not War! Give Peace a Chance!” Some people classify hippies as drag users and rock and roll fans.
They don’t conform to society standards and support a liberal attitude and lifestyle. They accept other people as they are. They always want to change the world for the best. “Children of the rainbow” took a lot from Indians, for example, organizing campings. Hippies are for free love. It causes a lot of diseases and pregnancies. I think, their image is right, but they should give up taking drugs. I can approve of their clothes. I find their music also very good.
