COMMUNITY FUNDRAISER

JOB DESCRIPTION

Hours of Work: 24 hours per week

Salary: £19,780 per annum (pro rata)

The position is accountable to Staffordshire Women’s Aid Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive and a Line Manager.

The successful candidate will contribute to achieving the charity’s Fundraising Strategy through the development and growth of our community fundraising activities. The role will aim to maximise local community support and donations, and will assist in developing positive relationships with funders and supporters.

The role will include attendance at events which take place out of office hours.

·  To work as a committed member of the Staffordshire Women's Aid team.

·  To support the values and social objectives of Staffordshire Women's Aid, and to work in alignment with Staffordshire Women’s Aid’s Policies and Procedures.

·  To take all possible steps to ensure the safety and confidentiality of service users, staff, volunteers and management of Staffordshire Women's Aid.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST

·  To support local fundraising activities and events

·  To develop, organise and implement a calendar of fundraising events and activities to attract one-off and repeat donors/supporters

·  To recruit and work with volunteers to successfully deliver community fundraising events

·  To work with the local community, including businesses, in ways that encourage and support people to fundraise for us, to include sending thank you letters and certificates of appreciation

·  To support the implementation of the charity’s fundraising plans and identify any new fundraising opportunities

·  To deliver talks and presentations to local organisations, i.e. Rotary Clubs, WI’s, schools etc, to increase awareness of, and support for, Staffordshire Women’s Aid

·  To develop and nurture positive relationships with local businesses and funders

·  To assist in maintaining the Fundraising Database

·  To maintain and grow the Donor Database, including obtaining consent for on-going communications, in line with GDPR legislation

·  To produce a quarterly Supporters Newsletter about the work of Staffordshire Women’s Aid and how groups/individuals can support us

·  To actively promote Staffordshire Women’s Aid both on and off line to increase the charity’s profile and encourage giving to support our work, including posting fundraising activity and updates on social media, the website and through press/media releases

·  To send thank you letters in relation to donations

·  To provide reports and information about activity, performance, supporters, volunteers etc., as necessary and upon request

·  To be aware of fundraising best practice and ensure the Charity continues to meet legislative and regulatory requirements on fundraising

·  To assist, where directed, in the administration of fundraising applications to trusts and foundations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

The following skills, knowledge and attitudes are essential for the post:

·  Experience of community fundraising, and an understanding of the charitable and voluntary sector.

·  Experience of organising events and activities.

·  Excellent communication and presentation skills.

·  Excellent interpersonal skills for building and managing relationships with established donors and potential supporters.

·  Sound understanding of the regulatory and best practice frameworks for fundraising.

·  Ability to organise a varying workload, and to manage this efficiently.

·  Strong IT skills and fluency with social media.

·  Understanding and commitment to the need for confidentiality and boundaries in the work of Staffordshire Women’s Aid.

·  Good administration skills.

·  Ability to be flexible and respond quickly to unexpected demands and deadlines.

·  A full driving licence and own vehicle.

The following skills, knowledge and attitudes are desirable for the post:

·  An understanding of the agendas surrounding domestic and sexual violence, and Violence Against Women and Girls, and a willingness to learn more on this agenda.

·  Experience of working with Staffordshire Women's Aid.

·  Experience of working with voluntary organisations.

·  Negotiation skills.

·  A sense of humour.
