An onscreen message will thank you for your request.
Open your e-mail programme (Outlook, Outlook Express) and wait for your confirmation e-mail to arrive….then click on the confirmation link, which will take you back to a webpage where you again have to officially join the group, Click on the above message.
You now have to sign into Yahoo.
If you already are registered with Yahoo and have a Yahoo ID & password (see blue arrow), you can go straight to joining the Maths lit group.
If you are not a registered yahoo user, you now have to go through this registration process….. (See red arrow)
Complete the form which will be presented to you in the next webscreen.
You will be asked a security question. Pick one and answer it truthfully – so that you can remember it!!
Don’t lie about your B-day!!!
It is important that you give an e-mail where you will be able to retrieve your username and passwords
Now put on your glasses and type in the letters/numbers exactly as you see them! By the way it should be zuMeB5. Ignore the lines.
Click on the button. If it gives you a yellow warning message, go back and correct the lines mark in yellow. Print out the summary page for future reference!!!
You will receive a confirmation message in your alternate address e-mail inbox.
You have to activate your account before you will be able to join the Maths lit group. So click on the link in the e-mail which will take you to the maths lit group where you have to check that your group e-mail will be going to your normal e-mail. In this example (default setup) the group e-mail is going to your new yahoo e-mail address.
If you want it to go to go to your normal e-mail address (your alternate e-mail address), you have to first verify it by clicking on verify under your Yahoo Profile. It will take you to the Yahoo log-in screen where you then enter your username and password. You will then get an e-mail at your alternative address and again have to click on the link to verify and activate your normal e-mail address. You can always come back and verify your e-mail address later as well, by clicking on “Edit your profile”
Next you need to tell the group moderators a bit about yourself. We will use this info to make sure that you get all important notices about meetings and workshops and to make sure that you are a maths lit teacher (We do not want learners registering…) Only the group moderators have access to this information.
Next you need to choose how you want to receive your messages.
You again will be required to copy letters (do it exactly as displayed, without the lines)
Click on the Join button. An e-mail will be send to the group moderators who will approve your membership. You will then receive an e-mail confirming your membership and you can log on at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mathsliteracy or hit the Yahoo Com button on the top of the www.mathsliteracy.co.za page. You are now ready to participate in the community!!!! Log in and enjoy!!!!
