Job Purpose

/ The Projects Networks engineer is required to support infrastructure and business projects by designing and delivering networks solutions for on premise and cloud based solutions
They will:
  • Work with suppliers and Solution Architects to create detailed technical designs from high level solution design documents.
  • Advise on non-functional design elements such as availability, security, compliance, and capacity planning for proposed solutions.
  • Work with technical and non-technical teams and third parties to specify, deploy, test, document and implement new systems.
  • Advice on technical projects working with technical and non-technical teams and third parties to specify, plan, test, document and implement new systems.

Main Accountabilities / Responsibilities /
  • Work within virtual project team to deliver project designs and implementation of new solutions
  • Work with Infrastructure support teams and project managers to understand requirements and translate them into actionable steps and design requirements.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills. Well organized. Professional presentation, friendly and outgoing, can do attitude a must. Self-starting and motivated.
  • Providing efficient and reliable 3rdline support assistance if required.
  • Working to the agreed service introduction, change management and service reporting processes.
  • Fully engaging and interacting with 3rd party suppliers for security requirements across the retail and digital estate.
  • Ensure the protection of Rank Group Internet presence and transactions across the Internet/intranet.
  • Applies Internet firewall technologies to maintain network security.
  • Communicates router and firewall configuration changes and troubleshoots system errors and bugs.
  • Ensures proper patch levels on network equipment.

Knowledge, Expertise and Qualifications (relating to specialist knowledge and expertise required to undertake the role).

Required:

  • 5- 10 years’ experience in an Enterprise or Service Provider Networking role.
  • ITIL certification or experience of working with ITIL approaches and practices including incident, problem & change management.
  • Must have outstanding diagnostic and deductive reasoning.
  • Expert level knowledge in the principles of Network Technology.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of TCP/IP protocol suite, Cisco and/or Juniper networking equipment, and firewall/DMZ design and best practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all stakeholders including senior leadership.
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
  • History of balancing multiple priorities simultaneously with the ability to adapt to the changing needs of the business while meeting deadlines.
  • Experienced working within virtual teams and offshore partners
  • Knowledge of monitoring regimes and capacity planning
  • Experience in working with web analytics tools (Solarwinds)
  • Recommend design and build improvements for the environment
  • Supported/implemented a Network Access Control system deployed across both wired and wireless network using Cisco technologies.
Nice to have:
  • CCNP/CCIE, JNCIP/JNCIE certifications or equivalent experience
  • Leadership and Project Management experience.
  • Experience with QoS, BGP, and VoIP deployments.
