Chapel Service for a Veteran

I would like to welcome everyone here as we gather to not only mourn the loss but celebrate the life of ______(Veteran Name) a most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. OR a most loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all.

PRAYER
Almighty God, we thank Thee for giving us the many good years and fond memories we have of ______(Veteran Name). We are eternally grateful for the joy and laughter he brought into our lives and the love of family and friends he/she carried in his/her heart. For these are the memories we shall cherish throughout the rest of our lives. We ask Thee to keep in the forefront of our thoughts those precious moments we all shared with ______(Veteran Name), as we recognize that in this time of sorrow those memories are what will give us the strength to endure our loss. In Thy tender mercy may we the living find our peace here on earth and in the heavens. Amen.
23rd PSALM
The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: He leadeth me in the path of righteousness for His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me, Thy rod and Thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen
COMFORTING WORDS FOR THOSE WHO GRIEVE.
John, Chapter 14, Verse 1-6
1. Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in me. 2. In my Father’s house there are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself, that where I am, there you may be also. 4. And where I go you know, and the way you know. 5. Thomas said unto him, Lord, we know not where you go: and how can we know the way. 6. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me.
I believe ______(Veteran Name) would want all of us to know that there was within him/her a spiritual belief, that there is another life that follows this life on earth, a better place where he/she now resides.
Will anyone wishing to share a story or special time that they had with ______(Veteran Name) please come forward? OR ______has offered to share special comments about ______(Veteran Name)
