Nature Reserve Preservation Group Committee Meeting 17 July 2012

Meeting opened at 7.10

Attendance: Tony Fowler, Margaret Fowler, Steve Gates, Katharine Outten, Aileen Reid, Elaine Sargent, Alan Hill, Wes Bancroft

Business Arising

1. Berkshire Road Trees – follow up in the summer and see what happens to the trees

2. Dale Newsome is the Airport’s new Environmental Manager. Koby Bradshaw is replaced by Carly Burwood.

3. BRAC terms of references delivered. With Tony, Katharine to scan on to hard drive.

4. Aged Care meeting Walliston – 18 July 2012. DEC disputing that it is categorically part of DRRP. Alan is following up with them. Area has been burnt in the last month which will make it very difficult to identify rare and endangered fauna and flora.

5. Federal Wildlife Corridor Strategy response to be done by Tony. Alan advised that Western Australia is omitted from national biological diversity reports prepared by the Federal Dept of Conservation for the International Biodiversity reports

6. Bushmead Helena Valley Catchment group – report. NRPG offer support to the HelenaValley group. Alan to advise when submission completed.

7. CSIRO – Steve to pass to Aileen

8. Steve emailed Mary Gray (UBC) asking for NRPG to be kept in the loop on the proposed strategies.

1. MRS Amendment 1235/57– Wattle Grove and Upper Swan – both involve bush forever sites – Submissions due September.

2. Weed Control Information Booklet suggestions sent into the Shire.

3. Zanthorrea morning – very successful – well done to Margaret for organising. Zanthorrea would like to do another one in the summer.

4. Shire asked to explain why only 2.5% environmental levy and the use of the term duplication is wrong.
