Competition Rules
Introduction
In this competition, the judging system is designed to have each entry viewed and judged by a select panel of fellow modelers. Judging will be conducted in the “open” room while the show is in progress.
The Chief Judge for the 2017 competition is Barry Maddin.
The top three modelers in each category will be recognized with a Bronze, Silver or Gold award. There will, in addition be a Best in Show award chosen from amongst the Gold winners, a Theme award and a People’s Choice award.
This year’s Theme award will be for the theme “First Responders & Rescue”

Categories
Aircraft 1/72 & smaller - all types.
Aircraft 1/48 & larger - all types.
Automotive - Stock- all types including trucks and motorcycles, all scales;
Automotive - Modified- all types including trucks and motorcycles, all scales;
Automotive - Commercial- all types including cars & trucks, all scales.
Military - all types of tracked or wheeled vehicles, ordnance all scales
Figures - all types including military, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, all scales
Ships - all types, all scales
Sci-Fi / Fantasy/Space - all types, all scales, excluding figures
Diorama / Vignettes’ - all genres, all scales
Junior - limited to modelers age 12 and under and includes models of all categories, eras and scales.
Intermediate - limited to modelers age 13-17 and includes models of all categories, eras and scales.
Display Only - for models which a builder does not want judged and which are presented for the enjoyment of their fellow modelers and the general public.
Entry Fees
There will be an administrative fee of $2.00 per model entry to a maximum of $10.00. The Junior and Display Only categories are free. Vendor tables are $10 each, display tables are free.
General
1. Decisions of the Chief Judge shall be final.
2. Judges may not judge any category in which they are entered. The Chief Judge is not permitted to enter any category.
3. A modeler may submit multiple entries in a category, and may enter as many categories as desired, but each entrant is only eligible for a maximum of one award per category.
4. Models which do not seem to fit in any of the defined categories, or which fit more than one category, will be assigned to a suitable category by the Chief Judge.
5. The Chief Judge may combine categories if there are insufficient entries in one or more categories. Similarly, the Chief Judge may split an overly large category into two or more, based on such logical criteria as scale, era or subtype.
6. Entries in the non-Diorama categories may include figures provided the figures are normally associated with use of the vehicle (ie Crew) and said figures are on, in or attached to the entry.
7. Absentee entries are allowed and will be charged the normal entry fees.

No liability for loss or damage to contest entries or display models is attributable to the members of the Central Nova Scotia Modelers, show volunteers, or to the staff of Bible Hill Junior High.
Entrants are encouraged to leave their entries on display until the show closes at 4 PM. Thereafter, although special circumstances may be considered, no ultimate responsibility to store, ship or forward contest entries, awards or prizes is assumed by the members of the Central Nova Scotia Modelers, show volunteers, or the staff of Bible Hill Junior High. Awards, prizes and contest entries are to be picked up the recipients / entrants by 4 PM at the Awards ceremony.
