Powered by the magnetic storytelling of NAKED AND AFRAID, FAST N’ LOUD and SONS OF GUNS, compelling characters from returning favorite DEADLIEST CATCH, and freshman series LORDS OF THE CAR HOARDS, Discovery Channel delivered its best April in key demos since 2010 with double digit increases vs. April 2013. Discovery Late Night also experienced increases in key demos vs. the same month last year.
Discovery delivered its best April in four years making this month the most watched April since 2010 in Households (HH) and Persons, Men and Women 25-54 delivery, no exclusions. Discovery also delivered double digit increases vs. April 2013 in key demos that included Total Viewers P2 (+12%), Persons 25-54 (+12%), Men 25-54 (+12%), Women 25-54 (+15%) and HH (+16%). These increases put Discovery Chanel in Cable’s Top 10 for the month in Men 25-54 (#5), Men 18-49 (#5), Persons 25-54 (#6) , Persons 18-49 (#6), Total Viewers Persons 2+ (#10) and Persons 18-34 (#10).
Driven by late night programming that included Naked After Dark, April Late Night was up double digits vs. April 2013 in Persons 18-49 (+10%), and up 3% in Persons 25-54 delivery.
On Sundays, NAKED AND AFRAID averaged 2.14 million total viewers P2+ for the month while FAST N’ LOUD averaged 1.98 million Total Viewers P2+ and freshman series LORDS OF THE CAR HOARDS averaged 1.37 million viewers on Mondays. DEADLIEST CATCH was the #1 ad supported program for the month in Men 25-54 delivery* and #1 on April 2014 Tuesdays among Persons 25-54, Men 25-54, Persons 18-49 and Men 18-49* with an average viewership of 3.83 million viewers P2+. Also on Tuesdays, AMISH MAFIA and THE BAIT averaged 2.39 and 2.16 million Total Viewers respectively, for the month.
Science Channel shattered network ratings records in April 2014 with its best ever April performance in network history among Persons 25-54. Science also delivered double-digit growth for the month vs. April 2013 and Total Viewers P2+ delivery was among the top five monthly performances overall in Science Channel history. April 2014 marked 23 months of consecutive delivery growth for Velocity in Prime among Persons and Men 25-54/18-49, no exclusions.
Velocity also delivered double-digit ratings growth in Total Day across key demos that included HH, Total Viewers P2+ Men 18+ and Persons and Men 25-54/18-49/18-34 delivery. Additionally, Velocity delivered its largest program audience in network history and earned its highest-ever Primetime ratings and delivery among M25-54with the Sunday, April 20 episode of OVERHAULIN’.
