KCL / LSE GEOGRAPHY ALUMNI SOCIETY (INCORPORATING THE JOINT SCHOOL OF GEOGRAPHY SOCIETY) WINTER BULLETIN

Welcome to the KCL / LSE Geography Alumni Society (Incorporating the Joint School of Geography Society) Winter Bulletin.

First of all, you’ll notice that our name has changed this year. It was agreed at the AGM last June to change the name of the Society to make it more relevant to those who have graduated from the two departments since the Joint School finished in 1997. However, the aims of the Society remain the same and it is hoped that more recent graduates will become involved in its activities from now on.

The 2016 AGM will be held on Sunday 12th June at King’s at 11:00 before the Annual Geographers Walk. The meeting room will be confirmed in the Annual Newsletter, which will be sent out in April.

We have three guided walks planned for this year, in Suffolk, Bermondsey and Guildford. The details are below.

If you would like to include some information about yourself for the Annual Newsletter, please complete the proforma at the bottom of this bulletin, and return either by email or post to the addresses provided overleaf.

Additionally, if you would like to write something for the Annual Newsletter, the editor is always happy to receive contributions. Any item which you feel would be of interest to members of the Society would be very gratefully received. Contact details as above.

Excursions 2016

Saturday 16 April 2016 Walton-on-the-Naze

Meet at 11:00 at Walton-on-the-Naze station. A walk along the beach, taking in the cliffs which are a Site of Special Scientific Interest and display spectacular coastal erosion, the Naze Public Open Space and the Naze Tower.

Sunday 12th June 2016 Annual Geographers' Walk: Discover Bermondsey’s Rich Heritage

Part of the King’s Alumni Weekend. Meet at 14:00 outside Bermondsey underground station (Jubilee Line).

September 2016 A walk in the environs of Guildford
