This scholarship is awarded in memory of Dan Hilger, an employee of Bighorn Logging, who loved his family and working in the woods, andwho died of a heart attack at age 34. Bighorn Logging held fundraisers for 18 years to contribute to a college fund for Dan’s four children. Now that the youngest is in college, Bighorn Logging is supporting a scholarship in Dan’s memory to help other students who would like to pursue a career in forestry.The scholarship will be awarded to students over a two-year or a four-year degree program. The award is $1250.00 per year for up to four years.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Acceptance at, intent or eligibility to enroll in, or documentation of enrollment in a two or four-year forestry college degree program within the United States.
  • US Citizen or eligible noncitizen who resides in or graduated from High School/Home School in Clatsop, Columbia, Tillamook, Washington or Yamhill County, Oregon.
  • Financial need.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.00or other evidence of good academic standing.
