GI-TEC/My104.3 WCZY/WMMI
Student of the Month
My104.3 WCZY/WMMI and the Gratiot-Isabella Technical Education Center (GI-TEC), Mt. Pleasant Campus, have partnered for several years to promote the recognition of outstanding Career Technical students through the Student of the Month program. Nominees are selected by their instructors based on these criteria: responsibility, trustworthiness, outstanding character and citizenship, initiative and leadership in the classroom, commendable work ethic, desire and commitment to improve technical skills and succeed in their CTE program. WCZY’s selection committee determines the recipients and provides them with a nice prize package and a beautiful plaque (courtesy of My104.3 WCZY/WMMI and area businesses).
This month’s recipient was nominated by Kelly Jones, Health Careers/Pharmacy Technician instructor. Congratulations to………
RYAN LUCKSTED
Ms. Jones comments:
I have had the pleasure of knowing Ryan for the past two years. He has completed my Medical Terminology and Health Careers programs and is currently enrolled in my Pharmacy Technician program.
The Pharmacy Technician program Ryan is completing can be very challenging. This is a computer-based program requiring self-paced instruction. He is learning not only the federal laws and multiple body system-related medications, but also pharmacy operations. He is currently doing his clinical rotations at McLaren Central and Walgreen’s Pharmacies. Ryan is consistently on task or ahead of schedule with his course work.
In the past two years Ryan has clearly demonstrated enthusiasm towards health care in general, displaying initiative in seeking additional opportunities to learn and become involved in health care-related topics. He is a very respectful young man toward his teachers, faculty, and peers alike. Remarkably, Ryan has also managed to find time for extracurricular activities, including Key Club, Special Olympics, Miles for Miracles, our local Dig Pink Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser, as well as several sport- related events, just to name a few. Equally sincerely about his academics, Ryan pushes himself by taking Honors and Advanced Placement classes. This year he was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society based on his academic achievements, character, and integrity.
I have seen Ryan work very hard to achieve his personal and academic goals over the past two years. He is committed to doing his best at all times, and is most deserving of this honor.
