POSTCARD FROM ASIA

Using your knowledge of India, China, Japan, or any other East Asian country imagine that you are visiting one of these countries right now! Create a picture postcard of something that you might do, see or experience there. Then write an informative letter on the back to a friend, teacher or family member describing your experiences.

Directions:

1.  You MUST fill one side completely with a drawing of your country (NO printed pictures). Your picture may be of famous landforms, landmarks, people, animals or symbols of the country. The entire page MUST be colored.

2.  For the non picture side of the postcard, you will use the left half of the paper to write a letter about your visit. You should write in first person like you are there telling about your trip! You MUST include at least 5 facts about the country with details or descriptions of each fact. You should write your letter in complete sentences, and use correct spelling and grammar (punctuation). At the bottom of your letter, be sure to sign your name (first and last name so your teacher will know whose postcard it is!) You may write or type your letter, but use your best handwriting or a font size no bigger than 14 pt.

3.  On the right half of the paper, draw a postage stamp which shows a flag or symbol of the country (the stamp MUST be colored). Beneath the stamp, you will include the address where you would be mailing your postcard. The top line of the address should have the recipient’s full name. The 2nd line should have the street address. The 3rd line should have the city, state, and zip code. The 4th line is for the country (this is necessary since you are “sending” your postcard from another country!)

Remember: YOU are the one who is traveling in this country.

Be extremely vivid and detailed about your experience

(and be excited to share your trip memories!)
