Respecting The Lord's Sanctuary Part 3

Respecting God’s Sanctuary

Part 3

(Ecclesiastes 5:1-5 KJV)

1Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words.4 When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.5 Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

T

he writer of this profound book is attributed to king Solomon and indefinitely he's recorded as the wisest bible hero. In addition to the book of Ecclesiastes he was also the successful writer of the book of Proverbs and several other books of the Bible. He was indeed a watchful and wise man. He was animously wealthy. (2 Chronicles 9:13) it says that Solomon had basic yearly revenue of 666 Talents or 22,000 kilograms of Gold. A talent weighed between 20 and 40 KG but the average estimated is 33kg. The price today of one kilogram of Gold is estimated at $32,200 so his yearly income was $708,400,000 (Seven hundred eight million, four hundred thousand dollars ) a year.

Solomon's father was named David, who slew Goliath the giant, including once leading as king over Israel. Solomon's granddaddy was named Jesse the Bethlehemite. These two men had to be extremely proud of Solomon not only as a king, but a preacher as well. You can read also in Ecclesiastes 1: that he is a preacher. In verse 12 he says, "I, the Preacher, have been king over Israel in Jerusalem." So, he's not only a preacher but he's a king. Some preachers, I suppose, articulate themselves as kings.

Solomon during his reign, kept everybody safe. It seem that the entire nation of Israel were blessed with money and everybody had an abundance to eat. They were enjoying the good times, and thing of life. God was blessing the whole nation. And, you know, God has done that with America. God has blessed the cities, and the cottages of this country. But when I look at our lackadaisical lifestyle, I wonder how long that blessing will continue. As matter of fact, how long did Solomon's blessing continue as leader over the Sanctuary and the congregants in particular?

I.  The Sacredness Of The Sanctuary:

1Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil.2 Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few.3 For a dream cometh through the multitude of business; and a fool's voice is known by multitude of words. (Ecclesiastes 5:1-3)

Solomon patiently sat down and wrote in biblical literary form, "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God,” (Ecclesiastes 5:1). One rendering of this verse is: "Watch your feet when you go to the house of God." The expression keep thy foot, also means to proceed with reverence, tip toeing into the spiritual proximity of God. When we walk in, we should enter in with care and caution. We should enter in with dignity and respect. We should approach God presence with the same attitude as Moses when he encountered God in a burning bush and removed his shoes. He was on holy ground, and he knew it.
