Position Summary
UpstreamUSA℠is seeking dynamic, professional trainers to deliver the Upstream Training Program at health centers across the country.Upstream USA’s℠ mission is to change healthcare so that all women receive the highest quality services and can conveniently access the full range of contraceptive methods, including IUDs and the implant.
Essential Responsibilities and Tasks
- Deliver Upstream training program to train a variety of support staff (medical assistants, health educators, RNs, and social workers) at health centers across the country. Topics include:
- Patient-centered counseling skills
- Medically accurate contraceptive information
- Contraceptive counseling
- Apply facilitation skills, effective learning principles and creativity to engage learners in the training process, encourage participation, and meet the requirements of the adult learner
- Provide coaching, feedback, and supervision as learners progress through training; support performance by remaining available and approachable for questions and inquiries
- Collaborate with team members to identify, contribute and recommend new ideas or methods for enhancing curriculum. Provide Training Director with updates on all issues regarding quality and content
- Collaborate with Upstream training team to individualize training plans based on analysis and needs assessment
- Participate in planning and preparation of materials for Upstream trainings as needed
- Travel required
Required Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- Possesses excellent presentation skills; able to present articulately and confidently under all circumstances
- Dynamic and engaging facilitator, who establishes rapport quickly with all levels of staff
- Ability to effectively break-down complex information and theories in a manner that is clear and concise
- Comfort with the use technology to enhance the learning experience when appropriate
- Comfort with learner-driven training models, engages fluently with learners
- Committed to meeting training objectives
- Working knowledge of the principles of learning, training methodologies, group dynamics and human behavior. If skills gaps exist, should be a quick learner with the ability to pick up new skills and self-train when necessary
- High level of proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point
- Experience in reproductive health
Valued and Non-Essential Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Ability
- A variety of backgrounds lend themselves well to this role- professional trainers, medical assistants, registered nurses, behavioral health specialists, or those with other relevant healthcare experience are encouraged to apply
- Training experience within the reproductive health care field
- Strong knowledge of best practices related to same-day access to contraceptive care
