Peer Facilitator Description
Elon University is seeking a select number of student leaders who wish to become peer facilitators for the Charting your Journey: Life Entrepreneur Program. These students will be chosen and trained as peer facilitators for the program this spring. Students will get a chance to work with life entrepreneur and author Christopher Gergen and staff from the Office of New Student & Transition Programs.
Peer facilitators should be students who would like to facilitate this transformative personal leadership development program for other students. Facilitators should have a willingness to engage with their peers and help them deeply reflect on their own life journey; an ability to build group cohesiveness and cultivate community connection; acute listening skills and the ability to ask well-timed questions; and the readiness and time to commit to the necessary training and retreat facilitation time. Though not required, peer facilitators will ideally be students who have previously participated in the program.
Students selected as peer facilitators will be expected to participate in 4 hours of training with Mr. Gergen and Emily Krechel in November-December.
Students selected as peer facilitators for this spring will also be expected to participate in an additional 2 hour session in January, and commit time and energy to help facilitate:
· A 2-day retreat experience February 9-10
· A weekly class for six weeks to support and help teach the Life Entrepreneurs Transition Strategies Course (February through mid-March)
Though this is a significant commitment, it offers a truly unique leadership development experience and an opportunity to continue to reflect on your own entrepreneurial life path, to build on a growing community of Life Entrepreneurs at Elon, and to help further establish this important program. Students chosen as peer facilitators will receive a $400 stipend at the end of the program.
