Product Design Engineer

DEMA is a world leader in the development of proportioning chemical dispensers and fluid control products. Established in 1956 with headquarters in St. Louis, Missouri, DEMA has manufacturing and warehouse facilities in Missouri, Zeewolde Netherlands, and Sydney Australia and a Representative Office in Shanghai China. DEMA’s chemical dispensing products are used to safely and accurately blend chemicals and water for a variety of applications, including housekeeping, food service, food processing, dish wash, laundry and car wash. DEMA’s range of solenoid valves are used in many industries, including car wash, beverage and chemical dispensing, agriculture, misting, reverse osmosis and high pressure cleaning machines.

DEMA is seeking a high energy person for the position of Product Design Engineer. This person will join our product engineering team and be responsible for new product development as well as existing product improvements.

Responsibilities:

·  New Product Development (Effective in managing a project from customer-to-concept-to-production

·  R&D / Solving product problems

·  Provide manufacturing with engineering support and documentation for new and existing products

·  Project management.

·  Implement design changes based on requirements from production, quality control, or customers

·  Communication with customers (internal and external)

·  Design reviews (interference, fit, functionality per specifications)

·  Working directly with Manufacturing and Quality Assurance to solve problems and implement changes

·  CFD and FEA analysis

·  Writing test reports and managing data.

Requirements:

·  Strong background in fluid controls and mechanisms design

·  Strong background in DFM (including injection molding, sheet metal and poka-yoke design

·  Able to clearly communicate and work with all departments with relation to New Product Development processes.

·  Able to work independently or in team environments

·  Solidworks modeling (part, assembly, drawing, and simulation)

·  Injection molded plastic component design as well as sheet metal design

·  Strong Product Development cycle experience (concept, design, tooling, pilot run, production, support)

·  Exposure to all stages of product development (concept/design/tooling/pilot run/production)

·  Effective use of MS-Office products

·  Effective verbal and written communication skills - able to interact with internal/external contacts around the world from production personnel to executives

·  Able to use judgment and independent thinking in the resolution of issues and in the interpretation of data

·  Capable of rapid concept visualization and able to communicate effectively with customers

Experience:

·  Minimum BSME or equivalent from an accredited engineering college or university

·  Minimum 10 years of experience as a degreed mechanical engineer in a product development, quality, or manufacturing capacity

·  Minimum 10 years of experience in fluid controls design

·  Minimum 10 years of experience with small scale part design, injection molding, sheet metal, CFD, and FEA

·  Experience with hands on prototyping and testing a plus (3D printing, mill, lathe, and testing equipment)

·  Forthshift (ERP) experience a plus

·  Liquid Planner (project management software) experience a plus
