IN RESPONSE TO QUESTION AT THE MEETING ABOUT CIVICS EDUCATION:

Please find attached links for the Civics and Citizenship Statements of Learning that seem to describe the content at Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 in relation to the notion of a National Civics Test and a shorter document that refers to the domain descriptors at Years 6 and 10 that are key performance indicators.

Spring Surprise

Have confirmed Dr Andrew Cannon (Deputy Chief Magistrate) for the November session. He is keen to talk about the HCA decision in the recent IR dispute from the perspective that it is the most radical HCA decision to date and an example of extreme right wing conservatism with the very real prospect of changing forever the political landscape as we know it in terms of State – Commonwealth relations and powers. The 5-2 decision and the united judgment have in his view, far reaching consequences and certain enshrined protections for the justices that delivered it in that manner.

Winter Warmer – July 2

Mark Griffin QC – Fabulous.

Just a pity there weren’t more there to hear him. Attendance was around 15.

Beginning Teacher PD at the Pines

Do we want the same format?

Need deadline re materials to Geof etc.

Intention for CENTRA repeat session for country students to be Thurs 6 September in the afternoon but contingent of fixing my CENTRA problems at the moment. Would like to co-present this as well as consider the idea of incorporating another person/expert ‘in situ’ at their own site. (It might be possible to use some of Ty’s gear??)

Portraits of an Unreasonable Man book

Please keep passing around the group
