INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS FOR ENROLMENT IN FORM ONE 2017
- Edmund Rice Secondary School is a Catholic School for both girls and boys; itwasstarted in 1988 and has
expanded to include A-Level since 2005.
- The school is managed by the Congregation of Christian Brothers for the CatholicArchdiocese of Arusha.
- The school welcomes students of all religious faiths: on Wednesdays for one hour – all students are offered a class in their own Religion where possible – otherwise they commit to aclass in one of the Religions offered.
- Fees are charged for each student as follows:

- ‘General Service Levy’ covers library, laboratory, computer and ‘Medical’ (the school has itsown nurse for
initial assessment of health concerns) covers the cost of the school nurse and‘Capital Development Levy’
supports ongoing development at the school. Uniform costs are not included in the above fees.
- All accommodation costs must normally be covered by the family. Where sponsorship isoffered, it is
normally only available to assist with the tuition fee.
- Regular transport services between Friends’ Corner and the school operate both morning and evening.
- All students are to be in their homeroom by 7.00 am each morning for preparation withclasses to commence at 7.30 am: each day; the final hour of the day from 2.30 to 3.30 pm sees students involved in various developmental activities such as subject clubs, interest clubs and House meetings. Compulsory activities finish at 3.30 pm each day.
- The school has the right to place expectations on students as members of the schoolcommunity and the
administration reserves the right to dismiss any student who fails to attain aspecified minimum standard at each year level or whose behaviour does not deserve a place attheschool.
- Enrolment procedures are under the direct control of the Headmaster who reserves the rightto alter these
guidelines in any specific instance.
- This form costs 15,000/-TSh payable upon collection. This fee includes the cost of the Entrance Interview Examination.
- Accommodation options at this school are twofold as follows:
BOARDING: Other than during term breaks, the student is full-time at the school
DAY: Commuting from/to home to/from school each and every day
- The Entrance Interview Examination will take place as follows (students need only attend one session but
may repeat in January (only) if they are unsuccessful at their first attempt):
DAY ONE: Saturday, October 15that Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary School at9.00 am. Forms for this examination are to be returned to the school by Thursday, October 13th - those from ‘far’ may bring the form with them to the interview.
DAY TWO: Saturday, December 3rdat Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary Schoolat 9.00 am. Forms for this examination are to be returned to the schoolby Thursday, December 1st - those from ‘far’ may bring the form with them to the Interview.
DAY THREE: Wednesday, January 4th at Edmund Rice Sinon Secondary Schoolat 9.00 am. Forms for this examination should be returned to the school by Monday,January 2nd - those from ‘far’ may bring the form with them to the interview.
- This form must be returned to the school by the dates indicated above and must contain one recent passport-sized picture of the student – no one will be allowed to sit the examination without their picture.
- For the examination, students need only to bring a pen (blue or black).
- The results of the above examinations will be published at the school as follows:
For the OCTOBER Examinations: Results will be on the School noticeboard as from 10.00 am on Tuesday, October 18th.
For the DECEMBER Examination: Results will be on the School noticeboard as from10.00 am on Tuesday, December 6th.
For the JANUARY Examination: Results will be on the School Noticeboard as from10.00 am on Thursday, January, 5th.
- For those living far from school, the Application Form is available through email with a request to the
Registrar at r the offer of a place is made, Joining Instructions can also be obtained from the Registrar with a request to the Registrar atthe same email address.
- Joining Instructions for those offered a place will be available immediately after thepublication of results.
They are only available from the School Office during office hours. It should be noted that applicants offered a place are required to pay Tsh100 000/= for the Joining Instruction. The Tsh100 000 is part of the first payment of fees upon acceptance of the place within the school. It will not be refunded if the place is not taken up.
- A place at the school will only be confirmed by the return of the Acceptance Form (obtainable as part of the Joining Instructions) by the specified dates. Otherwisethe place will be offered to another applicant.
- All classes for Form One students will commence on Thursday, January, 12th 2017 withBoarders tobe in their accommodation by 5.00 pm on Wednesday January 11th 2017.
