Purpose of the Role:

The University of Brighton’s award winning Green Growth Platform (GGP) is a thriving network of 600+ member companies across Sussex. The GGP offers four service areas (business support, innovation/R&D, skills and training and events) designed to support the growth of Low Carbon, Environmental Goods and Services (LCEGS) businesses and the move to a low carbon economy. As a key partner in the new European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) Low Carbon South East (LOCASE) project, the GGP is expanding its activity within East Sussex, part of the South East Local Economic Partnership (SELEP) region, and will be delivering business support to LCEGS businesses and helping them to access business grants available through the project.

The main purpose of this role is to support the GGP Project and Communications Manager in setting up and delivering the administrative processes and support required todeliver the project to high quality standards.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. To implement and maintain administrative systems and records relating to the LOCASE project and the associated ERDF grant in line with the university’s and funder’s requirements. To include production, storage, retention, and dissemination of documentary evidence
  1. To assist in the preparation and submission of LOCASE project financial and progress reports and claims and to keep up to date and advise the GGP team on funder’s rules and regulations related to the LOCASE project
  1. To work closely with the Project and Communications Manager to undertake the collection, analysis and presentation of statistical and performance data related to the work of the LOCASE project, producing regular and ad-hoc/bespoke management information and reports
  1. To assist in regular communications with GGP member businesses, LOCASE partners, GGP Board and university management including liaison regarding financial and project records, preparation of letters and reports and responding to administrative enquiries
  1. To provide an efficient and responsive administrative service to the GGP team members and university staff involved in the delivery of the LOCASE project
  1. To assist the GGP Project and Communications Managerin promotion of the LOCASE project services to businesses in East Sussex primarily through social media, email marketing and attendance at business networking events
  1. To arrange, facilitate and promote LOCASE project meetingsincluding preparation and timely circulation of agendas, minutes, notes etc.
  1. To assist with the organisation and planning of events and functions
  1. To disseminate project activity/results to GGP members, LOCASE partners and funder, university stakeholders and the broader community

Essential:

Knowledge/qualifications - Essential:

  • knowledge and experience of how to develop, implement and maintain effective administrative and monitoring systems
  • knowledge and experience of financial planning, monitoring and reporting
  • experience of successful project administration
  • computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Office.

Knowledge/qualifications - Desirable:

  • knowledge and experience of EU project administration and processes
  • knowledge / interest in environmental business
  • knowledge and experience of working in Higher Education /public sector

Communication: Clear, concise, timely and appropriate oral and written communication; able to write effective, clear and concise correspondence, resources and reports.
